Thank you. I was aware of most of what you were describing but this was a great reminder. However rolling the bottom lip is new to me. I just tried it....wow!

Great video but how about the professionals who puff their cheeks and sound great !? How about unfurled lips? Can you talk about the exception to the rules also?

This video is for beginners. If you can play well in a standard way then there may be benefits to special techniques . To pl as well you need good air speed control . In the extreme high range it gets hard to create faster air with a totally closed chamber unless you decrease air volume. One alternative is to lose the closed chamber at that range, Eg puff the checks for extreme high notes. You also see it in low range tuba players for the same reason. There is no reason to do it in the middle octaves . People that did like Dizzy injured their fascia doing so. He also had a thin tone in the mid range which is generally speaking not good, but he made it work in the kind of jazz he was playing. Not sure what you mean re the lips but some people play in weird ways with the MP inside the mouth. These things are possible but not efficient . So why try it unless you have a specific problem like very bad teeth .
