@asher10132 жыл бұрын
@@danyy8000 yes that is true. But there are contributors. Like he either didn’t have a good warm up before hand and his chops aren’t ready to do the higher octaves, or maybe they were over worked by over practicing before hand. Nervousness is also something to consider too. People who are anxious while playing are much more prone to more mistakes. And the spit valve can also have too much spit in it sometimes causing a crackling noise. Those things could’ve contributed to his solo fail. But either way, he still tried and put in effort and at the end of the day it is a solo. It’s scary! Especially for beginners. And he gave it his all. I’m still proud of the guy for just getting himself out there. And even with the mistakes he still kept playing instead of just stopping. Which playing through mistakes is very hard to do. So hats off to him!

When it comes to improvisation, I've always been taught that "There are no such things as wrong notes. There are only incorrect resolutions." If you happen to play a note that isn't on right the scale or key, the next note is what decides if it's good or bad in most cases. If the next note you play is on the correct scale and key, it's a proper resolution and the uneasiness of the accidental is resolved by the following note. If you follow it with more accidentals, then you're just playing out of key.

I don't think puffing your cheeks alters your ability to play higher notes. I think it's all about your embouchure and how comfortable your lips are to the point where you can play the exact note right away. There are some slight disadvantages to puffing your cheeks like possibly not having enough breathe. I personally blow longer when I don't puff my cheeks but if you know how to circular breathe it shouldn't be a problem. It all depends on how comfortable you are when you blow through your instrument and if you can play notes perfectly it shouldn't be a problem.

The negative comments will hurt the player for the rest of his life. Yes...many of your scarred him. Yep...I taught middle school band...it can be exceptionally rewarding and at times, not so much. If other band teachers are reading this comment...the only suggestion I have is, at that playing level...have the entire section or at least three kids do the solo. The audience doesn't give a rip if the section covers it. If I was aware of a video of one my concerts and they berated the kids....I would subtly read them the riot act and demand the video be removed. For myself, the only thing that matters is if they feel good and proud of what they do.

This is from a trumpet player to another trumpet player. First of all get rid of the puffey cheeks. Second of all just calm down. Trumpet solo's can be pretty tough, but to make them easier is by relaxing your shoulders and hands. Buzz your lips to get your lips "warmed" up. That way you can reach higher notes. But good try to play the solo. :)

If after 10 years of trumpet you sound worse than him thats sad and u should've switched sooner. Been playing trumpet 7 years and 6 months in and i was better than him.

It's because he doesn't keep his cheeks in!! A guy does this in my band...He's been playing as long as me and I'm in 3rd chair..... because of my instrument -.-

@RobertWilliamson1 Unless your Natalie Dungey,there is no way your getting into a college band at your age unless the college fails as bad as this band.
