Terrific job and an excellent final result.....you absolutely did this kit justice! I have a 1/32 Dauntless in my stash to build sometime soon....thanks for the inspiration and your vid is a great guide for my future build. That first tune took me back to the 1960's psychedelic pop rock.....memories!! Look forward to seeing what you next have for us.

Great SBD!!! But Hats Off to Your REASERCH on the Main Bottom Fuselage Flap PAINTED THE BOTTOM COLOR of the SBD!! For those Who May Doubt....Look at the Naval Aviation Museum's SBD-2 which saw Battle of Midway has over 200 bullet holes (now Covered up) That aircraft has that flap painted bottom color of aircraft... I believe that a museum in Michigan obtained a SBD from the bottom of one of the Great Lakes...Photos show the center flap the Bottom Color NOT RED.... Its only my opinion that at some point the Center flap started to get painted Red.. But I never have Read or seen a Directive on the matter..I Know, Really?! Color of a Center Flap?! Attention to Detail, it's important... How Important is up to the Builder.... Blessings Thank You Darrell Killingsworth

Great work! I'm still not convinced the kit itself is really a 5 out of 5. I have yet to find a trumpeter kit that is truly a 5.
@wbpsmodels34523 жыл бұрын
It was my first trumpeter kit but somewhere I read that this one was Trumpeter's best kit... I guess I was lucky... But it was really excellent... Great detail, no flash, good fit... Thank you for watching :)

@@wbpsmodels3452 One thing I'll warn you about now, with trumpeter kits, is the instrument panels. They are so hit or miss when it comes to detail, if they provide any at all.

It is a great kit... Not the easiest but really good one.. Mind the fitting of the two fuselage halves when you close the model... it gave me some trouble, I had to cut a few notches to close it. Thanks for watching. :)

Missing your front canopy compass at the top of the front canopy it's tiny on the sprue just double check! What I'm noticing with mine is quite alot of levers from the side pannals missing! The holes are on the parts you glue on and like the lever ball head Moulded on but no levers on sprues I've had to make a couple now and the oxygen can pipes needs more added and quite a few parts from the heads on the engine whare the HT plugs at top go to nowhere lol alot of people say this is a brilliant kit but if you do your research you see its pretty poor and wrong in places hopefully we get a new 1.35 from border model's after the next Japanese "Kate" they are now working on for a battle of midway seatbelts are unusable aswell and front one's are missing the shoulder straps! I've ordered a set of new 3D printed seats with belts from thing site just waiting on them coming tomorrow to get it finished up now!

Getting those 2 halves together was indeed a lot of fiddling, I ended with cutting two unnecessary studs in the hull.

David R Lentz, Columbus, Ohio, USA (Wednesday, 28 August, 2024) This kit looks quite intriguing. From what I hear, see, and read, Trumpeter kits, for all their considerable resources and determined efforts, can be uneven in their quality of manufacture, accuracy of design, etc. Their end results range from quite good to mistake-ridden, or rather mediocre of details-neither old Matchbox or Frog, nor new Tamiya or MiniArt. (By the way, if you as yet have had no acquaintance with MiniArt’s capability, go have a good, long, close look at their new kit of Republic’s late-war P-47D Thunderbolt “Teardrop Canopy” USAAF Fighter, in 1:48th-scale.) Still, I remain optimistic for the Chinese company. Have you seen (online, in person, etc.) the Merit International (now I ♥ Kits) 1:18th-scale conventional assembly kit-yes; given these oversized plastic, pre-assembled, pre-painted, terribly expensive replicas I over the past decade or so have seen here and there, that more than surprised me, too!-of the Douglas SBD-3 Dauntless USN Carrier-Based Dive Bomber (dated in the spring of 1942)? I watched someone building one in a video on his KZbin channel, AlexModeling (Monday, 2 July, 2018). I would like your assessment of it, please. Next, would you know if any kit makers offer a standard injection-mold polystyrene kit (CAD/CAM-based 3D printing, cast resin, photo-etched nickel-silver augmentation, too) of a wartime operational version (circa spring, 1942) of this aircraft in 1:24th-scale? In addition to the above three, I include in this ambitious multi-kit project 4) Academy’s (once Accurate Miniatures) 1:48th-scale Dauntless models. 3) Two of Airfix’s 1:72nd-scale kits of the nimble attacker. 4) Two of Brengun’s 1:144th-scale SBD-5 replicas (which may require backdating to an earlier variant); Yao’s Studio also makes 1:144th-scale kits of the doughty dive-bomber. 5) Three or four of Trumpeter’s 1:200nd-scale Dauntless miniatures (the manufacturer produces sets of these for their three Yorktown-class USN Aircraft Carrier kits). My plan is to build them all airborne, their propellers spinning, all positioned in a rakish angle portraying a steep dive, their red dive brakes deployed, their bomb yokes dropped down, set in a forced-perspective ærial diorama (FoPÆD) of a fateful south Pacific encounter as the warbirds queue high above a large, highly-detailed miniature of the Imperial Japanese aircraft carrier Akagi on the last day, at the last hour, it had steamed on its own power . . . .
