Have you ever tried laser welding thicker material 15mm+ ?

Hi @aaronshed, Yes, we have already welded thicker materials like that with a laser as well. Generally, whether it works depends on the application and the requirements. The question is: Will the seam meet the strength that is required. Depending on the laser power and the thickness of the sheet you might not get a full penetration of the weld. There are some tricks to increase the welding depth, like a special seam preparation, but at some point there is a limit. If the required strength is met, even without a full penetration, that works. Otherwise you might, for instance, weld from both sides. That said, 15mm+ sheets welded together is not a very common application for the machine shown in this specific video. It's more likely an application for instance for a hybrid laser process. An application with 15mm+ material that we do more often on this machine is a combination of different sheet thicknesses, for example a very thick sheet of 15mm+ welded to a thinner sheet.
