After playing quite a lot of games of Mechathun priest, I found a few things: 1. The best thing to do is to wait to use psychic screams AFTER hemet, because it ensures your opponent won’t fill the board before you can set the combo. (I usually use them along with divine hymn unless I had to throw them early) 2. Try using Shadow Visions almost exclusively for divine hymn and spirit lash because they will ensure you survive the game. 3. Play Hemet as soon as you’re sure you can both survive and draw the rest of the deck. Ideally, you will have 7-8 mana and 2-3 cards left to draw. 4. Use a deck tracker! This way you’ll know exactly how many turns you need to take after Hemet and how to use your psychic screams wisely. Most of the time you won’t get lucky enough to just throw them like he did. 5. If you don’t feel like crafting Thalnos (just like me), Tainted Zealot is a great substitute for it. You draw one card less but if you play your other combos right it shouldn’t be a problem. It’s still great for the Lashes because you can use the spell damage twice :)

The funny thing is that between Mecha'thun Priest, Topsy Turvy Priest, Malygos Druid, Malygos Rogue, Shudderwock Shaman and Eureka Shaman there's more good OTK combo decks running around now than in all previous hearthstone metas combined. I appreciate that they're willing to allow these decks to exist, but I sure wish they'd print some more counterplay for it besides Demonic Project. Loatheb and Dirty Rat would be great.

I think you can cut 1 or 2 loothoaders for twilight calls. So if you have any reason to believe that your opponent can disassemble other parts of the combo (except Mecha'Thun) you can just keep 1 twilight call and spirit lash to do the other combo. If they certainly won't, you can just wait a turn/ play them before doing a combo (radiant elemental can help to get rid of it). Chances of this working are slim, but the card draw already seems insane so having a chance against such warlocks and other annoying stuff can be good.

the fun part is now you run into that deck all the time so i just made an even wl with 2 copys of the project card and won every time. also does suprisingly well against both zoo and odd paladin since i just added a ton of aoe and removal. (the fun part is you can combine it with mechathun since in matches where you need the project card you won´t need mechathun to win anyway)

I've been away for a while and missed combo winter. What the hell is going on? Hearthstone constructed used to be about creature combat and making value plays! Now we're burning cards to get them out of the hand. There's pretty good consistency too. Neither spellbender nor counterspell (nor any secret) can consistently shut them down so you need to run bad "anticombo" cards to have a chance. Maybe someone will make a bomb warrior to beat these combo decks since drawing your whole deck will mean you also draw all the bombs. But then again bomb warrior will likely not have made it through half the deck before this happens. Or you need to run psychic scream as control priest to fill the combo player's deck with trash after hemet so they need more turns to assemble the combo. This looks like modern magic with neither counterspells nor hand disruption nor several other disruption pieces or sideboards. Pretty cool tho

Honestly I don't get how people think this combo was hard to come up with at all. The first thing you'd think with mechathun is how do I cheat it out and kill it in the same turn. I'd like to say the hearthstone team didn't miss it but I don't know how much effort they put into play testing and there have been similar cases of missed otk in similar games like magic
