Yeah Trump, your videos were big in teaching me how to approach a game. We were all once at the stage of "woah, taunt is OP", and it is hard to break out of this kind of thinking. I mean, these days I can guess what cards my opponent might be using based on the cards I see them play, which is pretty insane when I think back to my early days on Hearthstone.

Tbh, this F2p series doesn't prove anything: -Casual players don't even play half as much as Trump does who gets paid to do so (less gold/dust income) -New players aren't as good as Trump, leading to less wins in arena/constructed (again, less gold/dust income). Arena is arguably uneffective if you only get 1-3 wins most of the time -Therefore, it takes you forever to create an actual competetive meta deck which is fun (control decks, decks with epics/legendaries) Ex.: Can't play Paladin, too many epics/legendaries required, no Priest, no Control Warrior, basically no Warlock, etc. ->If you finally manage to create a single meta deck that is actually interesting to play and effective at the same time, all you can do is play the same deck over and over again which, again, gets boring af ->Even Brawls that require you to create your own decks get unplayable because you have no cards => Blizz forces new players to play Hunter decks because they're arguably the most cost effective => You basically have to invest money to have fun unless you're one of those dedicated Hunter players who compensate thinking capabilities with face rush Conclusion: I'm personally fine with the concept of Hearthstone, but don't try to sell it as a fun and interesting "F2p" game because your options are too damn limited as a new player who can't afford to invest money into the game.

True, but if you really find the game funny, you should after a while consider buying naxxramas, then just continue to grind for higher ranks and pack, to build some cheaper competitive decks, it all takes a while but this game is just that fun that the long grind doesn't matter, to me a at least. :)

Hugo Abrahamsson Yes, I'm only basing my discussion completely on the fact it's sold as a F2p game while i personally think the restrictions are too high to still qualify it as a true F2p (always with an eye on new players). Compare it to a game like Dota 2 where you actually have access to the full content. They even give you cosmetics after every few games just for playing. It's simply my subjective view on the matter tho ;) As i said, I'm fine with the model since I'm playing almost since release therefore I had the time to collect almost all the card while casually playing.

I have played about 95% f2p (bought some packs during beta testing) and don't invest too many hours and have the cards required to be competitive atleast til ~10 rank in 2-3 classes. Paladin is actually one of the best to f2p classes since their common cards are so good.

+Dan Liang Very true! I can imagine this series helps new players a lot, so my choice of words hasn't been very correct. I'm simply limiting myself very strongly on the fact this game is "sold" as a f2p (again, with an eye on new players) when it really isn't anymore. It's like RPG'S that say it's f2p, "but you don't have access to world map, can't enter certain chat channels, can't level above lvl 30, etc. without upgrading to premium version or play the game for more than a year!" It's simply a conflict on the terme of "f2p" which Blizz uses way too freely. Improving your gameplay fun/skills shouldn't be limited to the amount of cards you have access to. At least not to a certain amount (the fact you have to aquire some amount of cards first is perfectly! fine). The time you have to spend on this game is simply too high if you don't have the money (again, refer to games like Dota 2 that give you access to the full content as soon as you download it (mods, all heroes, full chat options, lobbies, options to watch pro /and casual games LIVE, give access to test client of future patches including all hero cosmetics, etc.)).

I agree Trump when I started playing this game I hated losing and not knowing how to make a deck then I saw your F2P Shaman way back when and I loved watching it and the more I watched you the better I got at Arena and Constructed plus I saw you playing hand lock a long time ago at a tournament that I cant even remember the name of and I was like thats the deck I'll work towards now I own the whole deck and between it and Zoo those are not only my favorite decks but they are my best decks that I am best with I also enjoy Paladin and Mage but they don't compare to my love of the warlock

my first first deck was basically Face Warrior, with as much Taunt, Charge, & Weapons as i could fit in it. the idea being that while they were forced to trade, i could "sneak" damage into their face. and then i became a Hunter Main with Trap Hunter, incorporating basically half of any mainsteam Hunter deck into a control / secret archetype. usually worked out fine, start off agro, and finish with a steady 5 damage per turn. these days, i own every card that ever was in a mainsteam hunter deck, but run silly things like Lock & Load Mech Hunter, Jousting Beast Hunter, & Trap / Dragon Hunter (you've activated my trap card, time to face my ULTIMATE Dragon!) and yes, of course i play face hunter, when i fall too low in the ranks

And because it was a deck created by a pro, I got to rank 10 on my first season without much struggle. I thought I was a boss for getting so high on rank only to realize later that any noob can get to rank 10 easily with a viable deck.

Adam Lee of course everyone CAN get rank 10, because the vast majority of anybody doesn't care enough to get higher than rank 20, each season i hope the new rewards give some competitive variety. it's absolutely stupid that the best decks are faced at Rank 20 on the latter. oh, and i didn't netdeck the face Warrior, it was most probably worse than your deck.

I enjoy the tournament medic card, especially since people ignore it sometimes. Could give you a clutch at the best times. Give it 2 divine spirit and inner fire, that's GG. Also could keep you alive for instance if you have that card that turns your player into Ragnaros and have the medic on the field it'll keep you alive. The medic is also good for Warlock since it becomes a free draw basically.

I hate the shame bashing people get for putting money into a game they enjoy. I mean if this is your hobby why wouldnt you want to put money in it, to become better at it, it's called investment (people pay to train at sports no?). This guide isn't really worth much to new players. Half the people I meet in Arena are Legend ranked so I literally stand no chance of getting good rewards. It's actually better to just spend all your gold on packs. Arena is broken.

The only thing I have ever paid for in Hearthstone is the Naxxramas adventure and I have every card for the Grim Patron deck. I know it is the hated deck because it is so common but I think the reason for it being so common is because it is the cheapest deck that can easily go top tier legend. I don't know if it is your kind of deck but in my opinion it is completely worth getting Naxxramus if you can. I even bought the first couple wings with gold to make it cheaper.(:

Free to Play? The era when he made his first F2P run to legend is very different from the current situation. At that time the game is in its "infancy" stage, and there were less players. He had an advantage of being one of the (few) earlier players hence also one of the more knowledgeable and better ones. Now, Hearthstone is more popular, there are more decent and professional players, and he will be playing against others who have a big advantage in terms of having higher quality cards. When the game just started, basic cards are still somewhat comparable to the staple ones, but right now, they are trash (relatively speaking). As much as I believe in Trump's ability, I find it difficult to believe that he can reach legend. That is my honest, objective opinion, but actually I kind of want to be proven wrong. Goodluck Trump :)

Regarding the randomness: In a card game like this, where you have a deck and draw limited amounts of cards from it, you'll obviously always have randomness. You can reduce that though, by adding more mulligans (like they have in magic where you then get less and less starting cards each time) or you can make card draw common and accessible, so that you see a good portion of your deck each match and are more likely to draw certain combo pieces or an answer for something your opponent might have and add more cards like tracking or cards that you can use to search for specific things iny our deck. And the biggest thing: They could stop adding even more random effects to cards and instead make them do something deterministic. That and the payment model (though it's playable/decent enough) are my biggest criticisms of the hearthstone game design. Losing because you had bad luck and/or your opponent has good luck just feels bad if you are the better player skill- or deck construction wise. For a casual player - while leaving a sour taste - it might not matter too much but for competitive games it's an absolute joke.

I think that definitely this will be the most enjoyable F2P so far, just because a new expansion JUST came out, so there won't be any new cards for a long time, and it won't be specific to one class, so it will be more universal. I haven't been the biggest fan of the F2P's in the past, but this one is promising.

This series is very interesting and I am looking forward to it, but no, even if we are talking about Trump (or it could be any other legend hearthstone player) there is no way he can achieve legend without adventures and completely F2P, especially in just a month.

Just saying trump, fighting at rank 24 and talking shit about their cards ( you were there once along with everyone else) i don't think talking shit about their plays is correct.. i raided with you in amnesty and trust me i wanted to talk shit about you because you were always at the bottom of the healing chart, but i didn't because i knew you were new :) just because you are a "pro" doesn't make it ok to talk shit about new players

To bad for that hunter. He actually had a deck up to date of whats being played mostly. He/she didnt pace them selfs. especially against a preiest and still lost pretty bad. Trump is kicking some ass so far for what he has thats just the experience though.

I don't know why, but this series is really fun and interesting to watch. I think it's starting to prove that Hearthstone isn't P2W. Maybe pay for an advantage.
