Modern Day Mountain Man

3 жыл бұрын

In today's modern society "security" is often strived for above all else and one of the biggest factors in our decision making. We like to do things we know we will succeed in. We want to know "I will have enough money to live comfortably in my retirement years".
Jesus never searched for security in anything, but rather only to do will of "The Father". Christ followers are called to do just that: "Follow Him". More often than not, following Him will lead us in the opposite direction of security, which leads us to the point we must surrender to Him and "carry our cross daily".

Another great message Billy. And I go through the same thing with my Dad every time it rains. I think he'd loose his marbles if he didn't have a rain guage & he wonders how I am able to survive without one, LOL

I remember a sermon Adrian Rodgers preached , he said " God never promised us smooth sailing ,but he did promise us a safe landing" . Another old preacher said " life is a series of storms ,you are either in a storm , coming out of a storm or headed toward a storm " . Amen ,enjoyed video , God bless .

Billy, I have watched your videos and I have watched other guys. You are the top of the line. Please keep doing what you are doing. I'm sure that most people are happy with your videos. I'm 75 years old and I live on a small fixed income. I couldn't afford to pay anything for your videos. Thank you very much for putting your videos on KZbin so that I and others who live on small fixed incomes can watch and enjoy them.

We went backpacking one time to a lake that we heard about between McCall and Riggins Idaho. We hiked for 5 to 6 hours straight up a series of mountains and settled in to beautiful nature for the night. Evidently there was a road up the backside of the mountains, around 10:00 PM a bunch of parties drove up and parked across the lake and turned on their boom boxes and ruined the weekend. Worst backpacking trip ever. - the retired accountant

Thanks for the encouragement! “Surrender” I know no greater peace and freedom when I do it. Which is counter culture to “You can do it” “be your own man/women” Good Word!!

Understanding the cross and the power that it has brought my Christian walk to a whole new level , when you know you can lay your troubles at the cross and you simply forget about them and go on with life it’s amazing how God will look after you , and yes your troubles go away or they just seem to work out ,all it takes is a little bit of faith instead of crashing through waves and stumbling over stones God will build you a bridge so you don’t have to crash through the waves and stumble over the stones thanks for the word today Billy I enjoyed it very much God bless you

Thanks, Billy. Great sermon. Helps keep focus and keep me thoughtful during challenging times. Keep up the good work. I really appreciate the time you take to make and post these Hunter fellowships. For me, if nothing else, it gives me the chance to take time and think about what I am doing or have done and how I improve myself to be a better father, husband and neighbour. The personal touch you add to these videos is, frankly, humbling. I understand what you mean about "I gotta get the work done." I am trying to rebuild my business. My youngest has joined the company as an apprentice and we have 101 things to do and a government to feed with paper all the while trying to get back on an even keel, pay our way in life and not be a jerk. Truly, thank you. P.S. the stock market will survive. Too many people that think they count have too much invested in it to allow it to crumble. P.P.S. and final edit: Oh yea of little faith! How many times have I heard that from my mother and grandmother. Trust, faith and belief. The foundations of life. "Oh yea of little faith" brought tears to me eyes.

I understand what you are saying. I have gone hunting many times and didn't even see the game. I didn't give up. I always thought about the next time. If I killed my game when I went hunting, there wouldn't be a lot of mystery about it.

Had to laugh when you mentioned South Dakota… my home state of straight, long boring I90! Haha. But also some of the worlds best people and bird hunting. Now I live and hunt in Jackson Hole, Wy. We are spoiled as resident hunters and I’ve learn some of the values you preach; it’s not always about pulling the trigger and killing. Hope you’re enjoying the hunts and your seasons! God Bless.

Agreed , any and every hunter knows you may never even see an Animal let alone have the right shot , many yrs have gone by and all you see is the tail waiving , or be in a position where you can't get the shot ! That makes the hunter , lessons learned

An interesting take, I have found that there are multiple ways to get the benefit and feelings of fulfillment you described, not only through faith. One such way is "flow" achieved when athletes feel completely engaged in their performance, lose their perception of time, concentrate on the moment (without distraction or dilution), and, perform at extremely high levels. Another is through goal pursuit, where you define an end goal, create a plan that dictates daily incremental benchmarks, and then follow that plan. Another is through using mental personas where you methodically analyze a problem and envision possible decisions and actions you could take, including doing nothing. Once you have envisioned several of these outcomes and their long term effects, you can choose whichever path you feel is most likely to give you the best outcome.

Brett, You are old enough now, get a packer to help you like you mentioned in a video. . When I was young, I used to back-pack with an eighty pound pack all day long in primitive areas. We were not even sore the next day. I would go to fish and most of my buddies went to rock climb. The Sawtooth primitive area by Sun Valley was always my favorite. Until I hurt my hip at 42 years old, I was a very in shape athlete. I weighed 230 to 240, depending on how much I was lifting. I enjoyed the workout of packing that much weight. I gloried in the wonderfully strong body that the Lord God had given me. - The retired accountant.
