Would love a detailed explanation of using a foundation for token distributions! Love your work as always

A Foundation in a jurisdiction where it is zero tax that holds stock in some non-CFC and non-PFIC publicly traded stock on exchanges in countries that don't have withholding taxes on dividends or which don't tax capital gains and which is treated as a pass through trust for tax purposes for a resident in a high tax jurisdiction like the US could be a very good asset protection tool. It wouldn't necessarily be a significant benefit in terms of taxes, but unlike a zero tax jurisdiction holding company which could have negative tax implications, the Foundation if treated as a grantor trust could provide asset protection benefits in excess of some entities available within the jurisdiction of the grantor which helps deter lawsuits and provides further protections from creditors beyond those available within a given jurisdiction. That is not to say that the check the box elections which are available for many corporate structures overseas for Americans don't provide similar asset protection benefits without negative tax implications because they can as well, but the foundations typically have local boards in the jurisdiction where they are crested which may provide an added layer of protection, not necessarily present in the UAE Free zone company, or BVI company you set up with a check the box election to be a pass through which you manage routinely from Florida for example.

Do you have any reference material/content for something along these lines? Pretty fascinating concept

It speaks german and it looks like the Alps. Considering your clues I would guess Liechstenstein.

would like to see how we would use a trust or a foundation or....? to reduce our tax base and where we would best use it /location and is it more difficult or less in A or B or C location and why. We would be looking to find info on the best case use of a trust for a business and/or foundation seeing as this is the only focus of your video. OR what might be a better alternative? Thanks Michael

Steve, this would all vary depending on the details of your specific situation. There is no one size fits all and we work on unique solutions for each of our clients. If this is something you're interested in, it's probably best to book a call

Yeah Michael talks about Asia and Europe a lot but not other places. I wish he would talk about the lesser known places in Latin America and Africa too. In fact I think the only time he talked about Africa was about Zanzibar and he doesn’t talk much about Latin America either as there are places like Uruguay, Paraguay, Nicaragua etc. which are tax friendly.
@OffshoreCitizen2 жыл бұрын
Sure, will do. I have covered Mauritius and Seychelles in Africa, I don't find Africa is so popular but can definitely do a few of the places in Latin America.
