The danger is you cannot plant the corn seed. You need to buy corn seed from a specialized corn seed producer; most probably Monsanto. So if one American seed supplier cannot supply us maize seed we cannot plant. What happens in the event of an embargo or war then we all will die of hunger. Genetically modified maize is a source of food insecurity to Africans.

Cancer and many more. Here in America, people are clamouring for organic food and the rest of the world including Europe is running away from GMO. Bill Gate said publicly that the population of the world needs to be reduced and Africa is a good place to start. Ever since he said it, he has been hanging around in Nigeria. It is Bill Gate that is pushing GMO food in Nigeria. Nigeria is not hungry. We have fertile lands. Our problem is that insecurity and lack of real Agric loans is hurting farmers. Only 50 percent of diseases in America can be found in Nigeria. With GMO, Nigeria will be dying like chickens. Nigerian politicians will take bribes and give Nigerians poison.

Whenever I leave Nigeria going back to America, I panic about going back to eat American good. Nigeria does not have the health care facilities to combat diseases that result from eating them genetically modified food. Money should not be the primary goal of food production, health should be considered also. Human rights groups should push that GMO foods are labeled so people can choose.

GMO is not a good intervention. Nigeria should have rejected it pending further assessment if it will be viable or not for posterity and maintain natural integrity. They just wanna turn the place into a junkyard.

The frequency and scale of maize consumption among Africans makes it too risky to try out GMOs on the population. If GMOs are adopted, Africans are likely to become the largest users of GMOs in terms of scale and frequency. And if anything goes wrong, it will affect millions of people that the world has been trying to get rid of anyway. They say it is for food security. However, the fact that the seeds cannot be replanted tells you GMO promotion has nothing to do with food security.

@@BlackMan777-y6u It's NOT all about corn as a food, eaten cooked or roasted. The sweetness in your beverages at Grocery Stores...do you think it's natural sugar?...That's FRUCTOSE or CORN SYRUP. And where do you think that comes from?...CORN of course! Even the regular Glucose powder at your Pharmacy shelves, comes from Corn.
