Vedic parampara Karm kand adharit hai, kbi time mile toh Vedo ko padh lena .......haan ye baat thik hai ki shri Krishna ki parampara m Vedic and Shraman parampara dono ko milaya hai........Or aage chlo toh Kabirdas ji, Ravidas ji, Meerabai , Guru Nanak ji, Dadu ji etc ne Nirgun Bhakti ki parampara chalai jo Shraman parampara ka hi hissa hai !!..

Kisi purv janam mein humne koi punya kiya hogaa jiske chalte humein aise gauravshaali itihas wale dharam mein janam lene ka saubhagya prapt hua. Sanatan Dharam ko gehrayi se jaana aur iski raksha karna bhi humara kartavya hai. Agar koi isse nich kehta hai toh badle mein sathik gyaan dekar chup karana avasyak hai.

Raja Ram Mohan Roy, a Indian reformer, was against child marriage, untouchability, sati pratha etc. He argued that the Vedas and other ancient Hindu scriptures did not sanction Sati. When people started thinking that these are not mentioned in our culture and our vedic books they use to avoid these partha. This help many other reformer to bring change in the society by giving the masses proof that these are not mentioned in our vedic books. This is also mentioned in class 8th NCERT book.

Here is the proof - (Sati is all over our Scriptures and History). Also Ram Mohan Roy was Christian Missionary. Agni Purana 222.19-23 “…The widow who practices self-control and austerities after the death of her husband, goes to heaven…the widow who burns herself on the same funeral pire with her husband (Sati) also goes to heaven. Agni Purana 154.3 A girl should be given in marriage only once. Atharvaveda mantra 6.8.3 - Even the thought of separation from her husband is a crime for her Atharvaveda mantra 1.14.1 - Her husband’s house should be her permanent abode. Handling situations faithfully, gently and in a learned manner will prevent problems from entering their lives. MahaBharata mausala parva section 7 - Rukmini, the princess of Gandhara, Saivya, Haimavati, and queen Jamvabati ascended the funeral pyre. Satyabhama and other dear wives of Krishna entered the woods, O king, resolved to set themselves to the practice of penances. They began to live on fruits and roots and pass their time in the contemplation of Hari. Going beyond the Himavat, they took up their abode in a place called Kalpa. Shrimad Bhagvatam 11.31.20: The wives of Lord Balarāma also entered the fire and embraced His body, and Vasudeva’s wives entered his fire and embraced his body. The daughters-in-law of Lord Hari entered the funeral fires of their respective husbands, headed by Pradyumna. And Rukmiṇī and the other wives of Lord Kṛṣṇa - whose hearts were completely absorbed in Him - entered His fire. Garud Purana 2.15.94 Woman going to hell says - I neither enjoyed the pleasures of my husband’s company, nor did I enter the pyre of my husband (Sati). Nor did I observe the vow of chastity after his death. now I suffer for my activities. Vamana Purana 12.85 “Those who remarry widows and those that defiles unmarried girls, and the ancestors of the offsprings of such unions are made to eat worms and ants Skanda Purana III.ii.21.15-17 “It is mentioned by Kasyapa that these burn the family like fire: The daughter of a widow who marries again should be always avoided. She is the lowliest born…one who has gone round the fire and one who is a child of a widow remarried - all these burn the family like fires (says Kasyapa). Skanda Purana VII.I.167.35-36 “I shall narrate other means of sustenance of which the Bhutas are always fond. These are your permanent residences: the places where there are thorny trees, the creeper of Nispava (?), where someone’s wife (widowed?) marries again and where there is Valmika (an ant-hill) Mahabharata adi purva 1.104.31-32 Rishi Dirghatamas said, ‘I lay down from this day as a rule that every woman shall have to adhere to one husband for her life. Be the husband dead or alive, it shall not be lawful for a woman to have connection with another. And she who may have such connection shall certainly be regarded as fallen. A woman without husband shall always be liable to be sinful. Manu 9.65. In the sacred texts which refer to marriage the appointment (of widows) is nowhere mentioned, nor is the re-marriage of widows prescribed in the rules concerning marriage. Mahabharata adi purva 1.160 There is no sin in this. For a man polygamy is an act of merit, but for a woman it is very sinful to betake herself to a second husband after the first. Till her death, she should remain patient, self-controlled and chaste,-seeking that most excellent merit that accrues to women having a single husband. (Manu 5.156). The woman, who, through failure in her duty to her husband, becomes an object of contempt in the world, comes to be born as a jackal and is tormented by foul diseases.-(Manu 5.162). Manu Smriti 5.157 At her pleasure let her emaciate her body by (living on) pure flowers, roots, and fruit; but she must never even mention the name of another man after her husband has died. Padma Purana III.56.4-15 “…(He should avoid) the food of women having no children…(He should) especially (avoid) the food of a widow who is remarried, so also of the husband of a woman who is married twice… Yajurveda, Baudhyan Dharma sutra 4:1:16. If, after (a damsel) has been given away, or even after (the nuptial sacrifices) have been offered, the husband dies, she who (thus) has left (her father's house) and has returned, may be again wedded according to the rule applicable to second weddings, provided the marriage had not been consummated. (As per Second marriage rule, only allowed with Husbands Brother only if marriage is not consummated. This exception not applicable in Kaliyuga) Vasistha Dharma Sutra 17.74 “If a damsel at the death of her husband had been merely wedded by (the recitation of) sacred texts, and if the marriage had not been consummated, she may be married again.” (As per Second marriage rule, only allowed with Husbands Brother only if marriage is not consummated. This exception not applicable in Kaliyuga)

Missed very important point about Sati.. no matter how prevalent it was at anytime , it was not forced and mandatory. Most of the Sati incidents were by widows own choice. Infarct in most cases it is observed that widow wanted to Sati and her relative tried to change her mind. Latest historic famous Sati incident was of Ramabai Peshwa, widow of Madhavrao I Peshawa. After Madhavrao's death, Ramabai wished to perform sati. The peshwa family including Anandi Bai, Ragho Ba, and Narayan Rao tried to stop her but she didn't budge.

According to Section 13 (1) of the General Clauses Act, 1897 “unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context, words importing the masculine gender shall be taken to include females and vice versa”. People just need to research properly before framing their own judgements.

Sanskrit actually has 3 gender pronouns, male, female and gender-neutral (often for Trans people or inanimate objects). Whereas another Inndian language Bengali has no gender pronouns. All are inanimate/gender-neutral pronouns. Hindi has male and feminine pronouns. Very exciting to see how Sanskrit influence 1 language through male-female pronouns and the other through it's gender neutral pronouns

Sati Custom was an Extension to Jauhar Custom. When Fransisco de Almeida (Portuguese) came to India, he and his soldiers used to debauch Widow ladies. Hence women started becoming Satis. Very few History Scholars have written about this but the evidences are there. Else what was connection of Sati custom in Goa? He was the one to be attributed as first ruler who banned Sati Pratha. He banned it for his debauchery. There is no doubt why Sati Pratha restarted during English rule. Our Mothers faced such brutality that they were forced to kill themselves and we started glorifying their Harassers. The reason is They are the one who rewrote history.

Agni Purana 222.19-23 “…The widow who practices self-control and austerities after the death of her husband, goes to heaven…the widow who burns herself on the same funeral pire with her husband (Sati) also goes to heaven. Agni Purana 154.3 A girl should be given in marriage only once. Atharvaveda mantra 6.8.3 - Even the thought of separation from her husband is a crime for her. Atharvaveda mantra 1.14.1 - Her husband’s house should be her permanent abode. Handling situations faithfully, gently and in a learned manner will prevent problems from entering their lives. MahaBharata mausala parva section 7 - Rukmini, the princess of Gandhara, Saivya, Haimavati, and queen Jamvabati ascended the funeral pyre. Satyabhama and other dear wives of Krishna entered the woods, O king, resolved to set themselves to the practice of penances. They began to live on fruits and roots and pass their time in the contemplation of Hari. Going beyond the Himavat, they took up their abode in a place called Kalpa. Shrimad Bhagvatam 11.31.20: The wives of Lord Balarāma also entered the fire and embraced His body, and Vasudeva’s wives entered his fire and embraced his body. The daughters-in-law of Lord Hari entered the funeral fires of their respective husbands, headed by Pradyumna. And Rukmiṇī and the other wives of Lord Kṛṣṇa - whose hearts were completely absorbed in Him - entered His fire. Garud Purana 2.15.94 Woman going to hell says - I neither enjoyed the pleasures of my husband’s company, nor did I enter the pyre of my husband (Sati). Nor did I observe the vow of chastity after his death. now I suffer for my activities. Vamana Purana 12.85 “Those who remarry widows and those that defiles unmarried girls, and the ancestors of the offsprings of such unions are made to eat worms and ants Skanda Purana III.ii.21.15-17 “It is mentioned by Kasyapa that these burn the family like fire: The daughter of a widow who marries again should be always avoided. She is the lowliest born…one who has gone round the fire and one who is a child of a widow remarried - all these burn the family like fires (says Kasyapa). Skanda Purana VII.I.167.35-36 “I shall narrate other means of sustenance of which the Bhutas are always fond. These are your permanent residences: the places where there are thorny trees, the creeper of Nispava (?), where someone’s wife (widowed?) marries again and where there is Valmika (an ant-hill) Mahabharata adi purva 1.104.31-32 Rishi Dirghatamas said, ‘I lay down from this day as a rule that every woman shall have to adhere to one husband for her life. Be the husband dead or alive, it shall not be lawful for a woman to have connection with another. And she who may have such connection shall certainly be regarded as fallen. A woman without husband shall always be liable to be sinful. And even if she be wealthy she shall not be able to enjoy that wealth truly. Calumny and evil report shall ever dog her. - Here a Wife of Blind Rushi disowns him and then Rushi gives her a curse that A Woman cannot live without her husband or else she will fall and become sinful. Also She cannot divorce or disown her first husband and remarry another Man. Mahabharata adi purva 1.160 There is no sin in this. For a man polygamy is an act of merit, but for a woman it is very sinful to betake herself to a second husband after the first. Manu 9.65. In the sacred texts which refer to marriage the appointment (of widows) is nowhere mentioned, nor is the re-marriage of widows prescribed in the rules concerning marriage. Let no intelligent man, after having given his daughter to one man, give her again to another; for he who gives and then gives is guilty of deceit. (Manu 9;71) Till her death, she should remain patient, self-controlled and chaste,-seeking that most excellent merit that accrues to women having a single husband. (Manu 5.156). The woman, who, through failure in her duty to her husband, becomes an object of contempt in the world, comes to be born as a jackal and is tormented by foul diseases.-(Manu 5.162). Manu Smriti 5.157 At her pleasure let her emaciate her body by (living on) pure flowers, roots, and fruit; but she must never even mention the name of another man after her husband has died. Padma Purana III.56.4-15 “…(He should avoid) the food of women having no children…(He should) especially (avoid) the food of a widow who is remarried, so also of the husband of a woman who is married twice… Yajurveda, Baudhyan Dharma sutra 4:1:16. If, after (a damsel) has been given away, or even after (the nuptial sacrifices) have been offered, the husband dies, she who (thus) has left (her father's house) and has returned, may be again wedded according to the rule applicable to second weddings, provided the marriage had not been consummated. (As per Second marriage rule, only allowed with Husbands Brother only if marriage is not consummated. This exception not applicable in Kaliyuga) Vasistha Dharma Sutra 17.74 “If a damsel at the death of her husband had been merely wedded by (the recitation of) sacred texts, and if the marriage had not been consummated, she may be married again.” (As per Second marriage rule, only allowed with Husbands Brother only if marriage is not consummated. You are right. I also met with a History PhD Scholar here in Kanpur, I attended his Seminar and he challenged anyone to show even a single proof of Sati.

@@NarayanTripathi29 it's not like sati was not their, it was extremely limited practice in extremely limited pockets, after passing the law against abolition of sati, overnight all the sati insurances disappeared , its a missionary created sticks to beat hindu society with , all the references are in book or one can see some podcast of her's on that book

However, First it was banned by Fransisco de Almeida (Portuguese), the reason is mentioned in History as Widows were considered a material of debauchery by Portuguese ( in Goa) so women preferred to end their life rather than being forced to go to them and no doubt local people also would have forced women to be Satis due to same (almost same like Jauhar). I cannot say the same about English, maybe the reason for Sati was different during their reign.
