There's not much to disagree with you guys making some excellent points...here are a few points, IMHO on what's going on: 1. the squad building was very poor 2. few outstanding superstars with a majority mid-level yet to bloom 3. manager going for his rigid style/approach and forgetting the toxicity can turn on a dime 4. players & manager lack experience on which reserve of energy/experience to go to when things don't go as per plan A 5. there are no experienced boss players in the team who can ignore the manager and take the game by the scruff of the neck when the structure fails 6. young players might have hit their limit of superb performances & what we are getting now is the residue of their ultimate peaks 7. lastly, a manager trying to be too many things at the same time...a strict disciplinarian, trying to fix issues which may be someone else's job

Maresca is not stupid. When he did subs and change gameplan midway- we all know his capability. He can spot the problem just as we can see too. He is showing that he needs new players to fit his style. Since Everton his gameplan is different.

Maresca isn’t sending any messages. He’s mentioned numerous times that he thinks our squad is very good and would rule English football in a couple of years, with or without him. I think the pressure is getting to him after taking some games lightly and he’s finding out how ruthless the Premier League can be.

I absolutely love this podcast. There is not CFC related many on this platform at this level. Conversations and topics are top level and there is so much reasoning to your arguments. You guys proper explain them. Ryan is really a gem, a very special guy you can tell. Keep it up guys. Tbh i was never 100% convinced on Maresca even before this patch. The games vs the bigger teams told me a lot he approach them always like we were the underdog. Not like other teams like Bournemouth & Fulham who really are the underdogs and they still beat them. Also he thinks WAY TOO MUCH on how the other teams we face play. I don’t like us to set ourselves up every game and adjusting to the opps, they should adjust to us. And also one other thing…. He is showing signs that he doesn’t take responsibility for the bad results. Needs to fix up, asap.

Felix was Chelsea best attacker for 1st half. He made 5attempt on goal out of Chelsea's 7attempt. It's clear Enzo never wanted Felix.

If you sit down and analyse the squad without any bias, You’ll come you a conclusion that our squad ain’t balanced at all. If you look at Liverpool and arsenal hell even Nottingham forest they are well balanced. From their centre back pairings to goalkeepers and even their midfields are so fine tuned and well balanced all round. Yes Enzo and Caicedo been going well. But I have to say Caicedo been pulling more weight compared to Enzo. Our attack is pretty overrated as well. We still heavily rely on Palmer for goals and assists. Sancho and Neto started off well but now, they ain’t looking so good. Noni inconsistent, Felix and nkunku out of favour. You compare that with Liverpool and arsenal, their attack they all contribute and chip in goals. While us we complete rely on Palmer. Jackson started off bright and we all thought he’ll help Palmer out but now he’s reverted back to his old self. Palmer’s been underwhelming too, but he still contributing to the best he can while the rest ain’t doing jack shit. There are tons of problems with this squad, injury prone players, players out of favour, players not suited for the system. Tons. Genuinely don’t know where we go from here. I’ve got full trust in maresca, feel like he can turn this around but I’m worried with our incompetent sporting directors. Who are just bringing in and throwing out whoever and expecting the manager to make miracles. Football doesn’t work that way.

Great podcast guys! I’ve been highlighting these issues for a long time, but especially in certain KZbin comment sections since the Carabao cup exit to Newcastle. Our squad already had certain deficiencies from the summer window that were not addressed, but now also has certain pieces that just do not fit Maresca’s puzzle. Add on top of that; injuries to key players like Fofana, Lavia, Cucurella missing the odd game through suspension and just not having adequate back ups to fill these guys roles in the team when they are missing, it is naturally gonna have an effect on performances & results. Hopefully more fans will start to clock on that it’s not all Maresca’s fault & see the full picture, especially after listening to this podcast. We still need a CB, DM cover for Lavia, arguably a LB & LW if Maresca doesn’t trust Veiga & Mudryk being M.I.A because of the doping allegations & also a physical box presence ST to compete with Jackson. Add on top of that players that Maresca just never asked for like Felix, KDH etc & other players he just doesn’t trust or suit his system like the likes of Nkunku, Carney, Disasi, Chilwell etc, there’s only so much one man can do. I respect people wanting to see the likes of Guiu & Acheampong get opportunities, but they are just 18 years old. We (as fans) don’t get to see them everyday in training like Maresca does & putting all that pressure on them to just come in and perform can be too much for players so young, especially when the team is already the youngest in the league. Chelsea fans need to accept the reality of where we are & have a little bit of patience. Top 4 & the Conference League was the aim & we are still on track to achieve those goals. Furthermore, imo I don’t think Maresca is really playing a cat & mouse game with the board in terms of trying to force their hand in the January window. I don’t think the board give him a 5 year deal if they don’t back him (I know the same could be said about Potter, but the SD’s didn’t hire him so it’s different) I think it’s just the January window is just naturally a very difficult window to manoeuvre in & the SD’s would prefer to do the bulk of the business in the summer window, whilst Maresca is just trying to find the balance between keeping players fresh/injury overload, rotating the squad to keep the squad happy with ample minutes, whilst trying to find solutions to all the problems within the team all at the same time.

When we played Liverpool, the first half was decent because of our midfield, but weakened when Lavia was subbed. We are overworking Caceido by pairing him with Enzo because Enzo does nothing. He can’t press, no speed, no aggression

Fofana is better than Disasi, but he also makes mistakes. Gusto performed better under Pochettino, and James, if he returns, will miss weeks after just one game. Strengthening the defense is a priority, along with signing a clinical striker

The problem with James is he's made of glass, manager and the board are protecting him .Then why bother carrying him? he's a liability. if there's a suitor, sell him. and he should NOT be captain.

I knew Poch was not the coach we needed at Chelsea. No records to boast of and we needed a winner but when he made Reece James the Captain and Chillwell the Vice captain I knew he was going to fail and I took a break from watching Chelsea play. That sort of poor judgment could only lead to failure. You need a settled identity for your team and you can not pick two perennially injured players as the leaders. If you are stupid in small things then you will be stupid in big things. Now look at Maresca. He had an advantage given to him by the Universe. You were propelled into a title race even though your sights were on top 4. Instead of embracing it he wasted energy fighting it. It now became a bigger issue every press time. Then of course the Universe decided to make him struggle for top 4. He also had a big squad and decided not to use them. He destroyed the vibes in the team that way. Now such poor form in decision making does not go away overnight and he will not have the chance to develop at Chelsea and therefore you can see he is already a failure at Chelsea.

It is Maresca's fault that those players are feeling out of the team. If he was blending the team more and making earlier subs those players wouldnt feel exiled... but he made clear there was an A and B team just for conference league and cups... No matter how many goals or how they performed in conference league, they couldnt get in the premier league squad.

Maresca playing hardball with the board is unjustified to be honest especially if you’ve not won a cup. If Chelsea were 7th and he was struggling to get us higher because the squad reached its peak, then playing these games with the board makes sense, but we were 2nd and 2 points behind Liverpool which means the squad did what it needed to do at the time. I just hope we’re not experiencing what Leicester fans were complaining about. Maresca must wait for the summer if he wants to move players

I don't think it is Maresca who not trust players. There are players who are not listening or not respecting the coach. Maresca should know what every top manager is saying - keep all isues in dressing room, not discuss things in press conference. By criticising one player publicly, he got one player who is not loyal to him. And this is ok. But now he has more than one and plus Felix and Nkunku who are not happy. You see Sancho and Pedro not giving it all. Maresca should remember he is not Pep or Klop or Ferguson. He need to deal properly with our kids.

you are spot on. you can sense that the attitude of some players are infecting the team negatively. The Mudryk issue, the petulant players like Noni and Renato, the passive/aggressive attitude from Felix, the unhappy Nkunku, etc. this is all detrimental to a young team and perhaps they're not responding to the gaffer. It's a potentially dangerous situation. We could drop off badly.
