When Cadbury was made in New Zealand. It was the most popular chocolate. Then the factory shutdown and is now made offshore. We definitely could taste the difference, not as high quality anymore. Thankfully we have Whittaker’s. Amazing chocolate for sure.

Yes Whittaker's definitely the more premium and tastes so good! I'm from Australia and they do cost more than the Cadbury chocolate but its definitely worth it! They have such a wide variety of flavours that are different and the chocolate quality is amazing.

If you're trying to compare, both brands have a lot of matching flavours. The keylime and the orange aren't even overly popular flavours here. Some odd choices but glad to see you get your hands on them and experience it for yourself. As for the whittakers, my favs are the coconut rough and peanut butter.

NZ imports a lot of processed food from Aus. I think Arnott's makes nicer biscuits than Griffin's - (Arnott's being Australian and Griffin's being Kiwi) but both companies are foreign owned (Arnott's is Canadian owned and Griffin's is German owned). I'm addicted to Arnott's shortbread biscuits 😁.

You should have gotten a bar of Cadbury's Milk Chocolate, one from Australia and another from NZ and compare the two, same company but different country, you could be surprised, testing bars from different companies isnt a comparison.

Cadbury ceased making chocolate in New Zealand in 2018. All Cadbury chocolate sold in New Zealand is made in Australia.

Mango is not a weird flavour in chocolate. it is great. I also don't like peanut butter but I love Whittaker's Peanut Bar - so chock full of peanuts. Whittakers is definitely better. Not a fan of Cadbury's since they moved production from NZ to Aust.

Cadbury was my favourite from childhood and then they changed it. They said it was the same but we chocky lovers knew it was never the same. I haven't had Cadbury for years. Whittaker's is now King for me.

1990 my mum's penfriend from the 30's came from the UK to visit. She went home with dozens of family blocks of Cadbury Chocolate with all the different flavours as the UK only had a few varieties as her husband was hard to buy for. He was in awe of the different tastes.

Cadbury's used to be the most trusted brand in NZ, then they dicked around with the recipe using palm oil which Kiwi's pushed back on hard as it messed with the flavour and texture. Then they moved the production to Australia. No surprises, Cadbury's dropped of the list which Whittaker's no heads it.

Cadbury closed their NZ factory and started importing from Aus - the taste of Cadbury chocolate is a lot worse now.... not as discusting as Hersheys though!

After a hectic weekend, made me smile seeing this taste test 😊 Glad you're enjoying the chocs. And yes, Whittakers is way better than Cadbury, quality wise. They have so many flavour combinations. Darrel Lea would be my favourite Aussie chocolates. Whittakers is sold in supermarkets here, the same as Cadbury and Darrell lea. Before they went into receivership, darrel lea was sold exclusively in their own chain of chocolate shops around Australia. So many fond memories as a kid going into Darrell lea stores, the wonderful aroma as you entered. They made a comeback with new owners but as a supermarket brand only. They had these little jars with a pink lid, of tiny hard lollies, all different flavours, called "bo beep". The smell when you opened the lid of those little jars 😍 . Sorry I wandered off down nostalgia lane lol. Also, I agree with Rob about chocolate and orange 🍫🍊...not a fan. And yes Jelly tip for the win!

I agree that orange doesn't belong in chocolate, but mint is a must with chocolate. Black forest is an OG flavour from the 80s its delish. New Zealand chocolate is just African ingredients

We used to have Cadburys NZ made chocolate, in Dunedin NZ. So yes it started in the UK, but NZ had it's own, until it went to Australia. I would choose Whittakers and Nestlé over Cadbury every time.

I like Cadbury but this selection of flavours was not the best choice and representation of Australian Cabury chocolate IMO and it changes if you put it in the fridge. I like peanut butter but not in chocolate. Why did you not do Darell Lea. It would have been a no contest.

Both during their visits to Aus and from people like myself that have sent boxes. The box I sent was intentionally all of NEW stuff that they hadn't tried before. 🙂

@@coopsnz1 I don't especially like milk chocolate. I only eat dark chocolate. It's the quality of the cocoa that really matters. Whittaker's is a small company that has to compete with a lot of imported products in the tiny NZ market - they have won many loyal customers in NZ because of their excellent quality.
