My Granddaddy used to be a truck driver. When he was in the hospital sleeping, the bed's motors would buzz a little when it was moving the mattress around (to prevent bedsores). When the bed started buzzing, we saw his foot press down like he was accelerating or braking. We think he was driving a truck in his dream and the buzz was his engine revving. I like to think he's driving big rigs in Heaven and watching Dale Earnhardt race every week.

My dad’s been a trucker for 25-30 years and has been in the “two inches on each side” situation Bubba was describing. I honestly have been so rude to them recently because in my area they have been ignoring traffic laws and intentionally obstructing traffic. I live in a bad area though where the community and people are honestly nasty and rude. Probably when the trucks get there they know people are dicks so they just get the upper hand by doing it first. Web had a couple accidents but I blame both sides. People here are shit and the truckers are just tired of their shit lol
@solitarelee6200
@solitarelee6200 2 жыл бұрын
@@mikealalee2889 honestly as a trucker myself I think it's fair to be mad at those specific kinds of truckers, just like you get mad at shitty drivers! some companies will hire just about anyone due to the trucking shortage, with less and less training beforehand (there are certain trailers I watch out for on the road, because I KNOW those companies hire under-trained drivers!). That being said, while I do think they should be more careful (anyone with a larger vehicle should be imo, people in minivans should be more cautious around small cars but they never are) I do feel some sympathy if, like you said, it's an area with shitty drivers though. As someone with a giant-ass truck, you have to be even more cautious and leave even more space, and some drivers just REFUSE to let you move safely. It turns into chaos, just like you said!

As a girl whose father was an 18 wheeler truck driver until the day he died, I can say that they don't get as much respect as they should. Not do they get paid enough for the hard labor of doing everything they should to put tarps on and tighten straps. It takes it's toll on them over time. For the most part, any truck driver you meet will have a pretty good sense of humor as well.
@tiffanysimmons8148

Not only do they not get the respect for the tasks but they don't get enough respect on the road. Also, the daughter of a truck driver, I learned ways to respond and respect trucks on the road. This shows how difficult they are to control and its dangerous for the people around them, most of the time the truck will be fine but "your" Prius will not be fine (although bad truck accidents absolutely do happen).

The one single time I tried driving a car on a private cottage road with my dad I forgot the pedals and pressed accelerator instead of brake in the first crossroads. I didn't want to dry in the first place because of the poor headspace I was in at that moment. I was panicky and tense and a mistake was certain to unfold eventually. In my defense dyslexia sometimes comes with difficulty to tell apart left and right. Anyway, the whole moment took like half a second because my dad got to the hand brake immediately, but the unexpected speed made my mother instinctively scream on the backseat which made me even more startled. There was no actual danger, just a scare and nobody was angry or anything. But I got up right after, had a huge cry and have since used that as a cheap excuse for why I never got a drivers license.
@nadjakallisfilms4858
@nadjakallisfilms4858 2 жыл бұрын
@@AammaK I understand your anxiety about it, but maybe I can help. Take what I am about to share from a person who truly enjoys driving her car now: I know, learning to drive isn’t easy, in fact it’s the most stressful and difficult thing I’ve ever done and I graduated high school last year. While I was doing my driver’s license I had those two mentioned mental breakdowns: 1. I ended up sideways on a freeway road because the engine died on me in a left turn. 2. I hit the side of the road at around 70 km/h, up a hill, on a tiny, twisty road with a huge slope right next to where I was driving. There were also cars behind and coming at me. Learning it and driving with a driving instructor will be a pain and probably absolute hell, but here me out: 1. There is no shame in being afraid, those instructors know what they are doing. If you are panicking, they’ll understand. If you get in a dumb situation, they are trained and there to help. Also, being afraid just means, that you will be a careful, thoughtful and amazing driver. You will never have big crashes or accidents out of rage or restlessness, because you will be an amazing driver. 2. Don’t get discouraged by mistakes, headache situations or anxiety, because everybody, I am telling EVERYONE felt that way in the beginning. If I can do it, trust me, everyone can. I made a million mistakes along the way. 3. The first time you drive without an instructor will feel like a new world to you. You will feel way more relaxed and safe. When I drove alone for the first time I was super concentrated, sure, but I was also not even close to the level of fear or anxiety I was at before. It will be easy, after just a few times alone it will feel like you’ve been doing it all your life. And it will give you the greatest amount of relieve and accomplishment. That much I can promise you. Of cause, you can do it whenever you feel ready. Everything in your own time. I just hope, this might help you a little bit.

@@nadjakallisfilms4858 Thank you for the sweetest comment! Truly made my day. For the last few years I've dealt with clinical depression and anxiety, and most of my life has been on hold. I likely have an attention deficit condition as well, we'll be finding out. All and all, I've had difficulties handling concentration and spacial awareness in outdoors everyday situations and I don't trust my body or my self control at all, so driving a vehicle of any kind feels such a huge scary thing, especially when I have no former traffic experience like my little brother already did when he started driving a car. It's handy to have a funny story to conceptualize it, but it can get quite pessimistic when you're feeding thoughts like that. I'm a mess but I'm working on it. I'm lucky to live in well organized public transport area, but in the long run I'd benefit from having more freedom in going place to place like traveling to my family for sure. Though I might not be able to proceed on that matter at the moment, I'll surely be considering it in the near future. It's good to remember it's not too late for anything really! Thank you for the friendly words of encouragement, I'll keep them to my heart and remember when it's time to get back to it!

@@AammaK Of cause 🙏🏻 and I’m sure you’ll manage it one day. Btw, I don’t know how it’s where you live, but in my area there is this driving space where people without drivers licenses can practice driving on easy, broad and clear roads that are off of the normal streets (no dangerous intersections and low speed limits) Plus, everyone else there also is new to it and won’t be mad if you make a mistake or drive slowly. You can even practice parking there, it’s great. Good way to get used to the car without worrying too much and slowly adjust to manage the slightly more challenging part on the actual streets later. Maybe a good way to get started and get that „experience“ you might seek. And a good way for you to find out in what ways you find the concentration and awareness easy or difficult. No one expects you to jump on the highway first thing 😄 I hope you’ll feel better soon and all the best to you!

I just took my licenses for pulling a trailer and was shitting myself, because we have to reverse around a corner with the trailer in the test.... I was so bad at it when I rehearsed at home and with the instructor. and so so nervous. Turns out the policeman who you take the test with, didnt feel like reversing around a corner, and we didnt have to do it for the test. 😂 So I was nervous for nothing. But im slowly learning how to reverse with a trailer behind my car. You have to make small movements back and forth. And you cant even see the effect one slight turn has on the trailer for 3-4 meters, and by the time you can see it, you will have to have turned the wheel the other way. 🤣

Eventually when he worked at a school I'd get to go to the driving school (Tri-State Semi Driver Training in Palmer Tx) and hang out. It was so much fun as a kiddo. Bonus he'd use me as an example of if I could learn at my age anyone could learn. THese trucks were not automatic either so that was fun lol. Thank you TryGuys for the little kick of nostalgia :)
