The spiders look like Orb Weavers - totally chill and generally non-harmful to humans. They usually make their web at night and take it down by morning - so maybe these ones are different to the ones we get here in South Aus.... Or its mating season.... Either/or - they generally try to avoid interactions with humans so thats one of the reasons why they build up higher =)

On the spiders, two things,. First those aren't bird eating spiders, the bird eating tarantula is about the size of a dinner plate, those are maybe the size of the bottom of a solo cup. Second, spiders that make group webs like that strung in trees can actual get pulled off the trees by a strong wind storm and cause it to "rain" spiders, there's areas in Australia and Brazil where this happens.
