Bugs my absolute #1 favorite cartoon character. Id get up as a kid on sat mornig and watch looney tunes, later on theyd play them after school too. Bugs usually never messed with anyone who didnt mess with him first exceot the earlier cartoons. But except on maybe two occasions, hed always come out on top. A few facts. Bugs has appeared in more films than any other cartoon in history to this day.he is the 9th most portrayed film personality in the world and hus own star on the Hollywood walk of fame.three time oscar nominee, winning once. The us military made him an honorary private due to his being a military mascot and morale booster. He was a legend.

That first clip was from Wacky Wabbit, a Bob Clampett cartoon from the 40s. They were still figuring Bugs out at this point and Clampett cribbed ideas from Friz Freling for Bugs's laid back personality. Bugs uses similar rationale to the older 'Crazy' Daffy persona of the same period of tormenting his adversaries because it makes for good visual comedy. The more zen Kharmic Trickster Bugs who only retaliates after his opponent fires the first shot, so to speak, didn't come along until later when Chuck Jones refined the laid back personality and made Bugs stick to it.

Bob Clampett's version of Bugs could be a douchebag. Chuck Jones was the director who confirmed that Bugs always had to be prevocked, otherwise he'd be very live and let live.

Bob Clampett's Bugs isn't a douchebag. At least not an unfunny one. Clampett's Bugs is similar to Tex Avery's. Just screwier and more unpredictable. Bugs doesn't have to be provoked all the time. He can still be funny. Friz Freleng's Bugs (until 1955 at least) is similar to Clampett's, but even more sadistic. Chuck Jones didn't make Bugs too different from the other directors, just more innocent. However, he did make Bugs more laid-back and lazy around 1952. Bob McKimson's Bugs is a grumpy sadist. Every director has made Bugs a violent sadist. But I love Bugs Bunny for that reason.
