To my fellow cowboy boot wearers: use the pull tabs on your boots. You can fit a lot of cord on each tab (my sweet spot is 6-8 feet per tab).

@Supreme X s3th the same situations I'd replace normal boot laces for. Paracord is incredibly useful, hell I once tied the gas tank of my truck back into place after the rust finally ate away one of the straps. I have also just needed paracord camping and in various other situations, and been able to use the 6 feet of paracord I always keep. Expect the unexpected, you won't regret it.

Dude slipped on a puddle and ended up slipping over the edge and fell about 6-10 ft impaling his leg on a tree branch. We were able to make a makeshift tourniquet as well as securing the branch to his leg(you don’t want to pull it out) like that shit happened downtown on a business trip. I typically make a braid on my keys and I use it regularly enough to wear I have to make another one every couple months. Secured some boxes to a pallet. Keys out of a grated pit, fixing stuff in the yard, attaching a cup to a stick to get a water sample inside a tank, list goes on and on

My biggest beef with this, is that your shoe laces serve a purpose. Folks, toss some damn Para cord in your pack and roll with it.

Paracord can serve the exact same purpose. I've had boot laces fail on me and I don't bother buying extra boot laces, I just use Paracord and call it a day. Costs pennies for what I need compared to $15

@@nwbaldi I think the point they’re trying to make is that you need your shoelaces to hold your shoes on. So if you need to use the paracord for something else, then your boots are going to fall off.

What I tend to do nowadays Is take a length of Paracord and wrapped it into my belt loop. It’s hard to explain exactly how it i did it but think weave in and out of the belt loops and change back directions a few times. Then I could take a small amount and just take the two loop ends and tie them up. Makes you a belt and you have like 20 feet of paracord. As the week went on I worked my way down to about 5 feet of paracord, and still have a tiny belt that doesn’t take up a lot of room. When I’m wearing shorts it just stays looped into the belt loops and easy to readjust. I started doing it cause I got adhd and would never remember belts in backpacking trips

Ive been using para in my combat boots my whole military career. You can pull the inner cordage out and still have your laces. I have a different, super simple, and as fast as can be, way to tie them using the slipperiness against itself. Never comes undone unless you want it to.

I remember replacing my laces with paracord on my joggers during late high school, and it stretched the absolute hell out the leather to the point where you could barely see the bottom of the tongue anymore. I imagine they would work a lot better on steal caps boots where you aren't constantly untying and retying them, like in the video.

When I was a 11B. We use to combat lace or boots . Lace all the way up. Run the left and right string back it the top hole to form a loop. Run the opposite side string in the loop and pull tight. Never had them come untied. Finish with a double bow or what you like to use

Make the length you need for your shoe laces then after that is extra. Lace up your boots then wrap the extra around the top of the boot then tie it. You can cut off the extra when you need cord to use.

The main reason for paracord shoelaces is emergency uses, yes you'll have paracord in your bag or whatnot, it's for emergencies not for "oh I don't wanna look like an idiot carrying paracord around"

Don’t do this. Don’t be taking your shoelaces out in a “survival situation” to use for tying stuff. Either tie it with the paracord you were smart enough to bring with, or don’t. You will already be going through enough stress that you reeeeeaaaallly don’t want to add foot fatigue and potential blistering from your now I’ll fitting boots. It’s stupid, get good laces and keep them as laces.

Strip the liner of it’s seven or more strands and use the liner as your new bootlace. Use the inner strands as cordage unless you need the liner as well. If so, use the least amount of liner as you can to tie just the center loops of your boots together.
