One of the many things I like about Glyn's instruction is that something helpful to me is learned every time. I don't do portraiture but, as a street and some times landscape photog, I am sure this technique will come in handy.

Hey Glen, It might help your followers (and youtubers to find you) if you called the technique by its name. What you are teaching is frequency separation. And you did a really good job at it, but it will be hard for others to find your version of frequency separation. Plus when I'm learning and mastering a technique I like to compare it with other videos to compare strategies. Thank you another great tutorial.

Tha'ts very kind of you Robert and thnk you for the suggestion which I've now added to the latter part of the title 👍🏻

Glyn, would this technique also be suitable on a 'beauty' re-touch, such as fixing/improving 'bags' below eyes etc?
@glyndewis Жыл бұрын
Totally mate. Also sun burn , achne etc ... At times you might need to work on removing detail ands you can do that working directly on the detail layer with something like the Clone Stamp Tool set to 'current layer' ... HOWEVER the new Remove Tool on a blank layer would be superb for that too.

@@glyndewis brilliant! Another technique in the 'armoury' good to know. Thanks mate 👍🏻

Great tutorial ! For creating the detail layer - would high pass filter be equally good ? What would be the differences if not ? Thanks !
@NicSkerten Жыл бұрын
Not sure if I missed it in your explanation of the technique, but you should mention that in Frequency Separation layer preparation the Apply Image settings are different for 8 bit and 16 bit images (ie Subtract rather than Add with the Scale and Offset changed).
@glyndewis Жыл бұрын
Didn't mention it becuase over the years the difference is hardly if at all noticeable and nowadays if you're editing on skin and such, most people would be working 16 bit image; there is a video Ilinked to though where I do cover that
