Most of it made from scratch. The green beans and fried apples come in cans. But the biscuits, fried chicken, dumplings, and pretty much everything else has to be made. The grits and sawmill gravy are actually started two hours before open so that we can have it fresh for breakfast.

Hiii I used to work at Cracker Barrel and I actually thought the portion sizes were pretty accurate. The only things that stood out were the side Caesar salad should be in a smaller bowl and served with only two cherry tomatoes and the apple BBQ chicken was usually less apple more BBQ. Also the plating sometimes was not as neat but it wasn’t too far off.

As a former Cracker Barrel employee, all I can say is that they really take the time to train their employees well. I had always felt supported and encouraged while employed there, and even though no job is perfect, I did feel like a respected and valued member of the team, and that did a lot for my outlook on the job itself. They really value consistency as a company and making sure every single person who comes through their doors is being taken care of. They also have precise recipes they use to ensure the quality of food, so you should always expect a certain standard while you're there. If not, let someone know because they are always trying to improve the guest's experience!

Out of all these trying the menu videos to this day, Cracker Barrel is by far my favorite and if I ever visit USA again, it would be a restaurant I’d seek up and dine at at least once! The food just looks amazing and the menu itself is right up my alley as it looks like pure comfort food. I’d have a massive problem trying to decide what to order though because too much just looks so damn good lol And for me it’s a bonus that they don’t serve alcohol, means you’re less likely to encounter drunk people while enjoying your meal

Sam Paltiel I think you mean sodas, not sofas... how would it be all clear? It would only be clear if it was made with artificial fruit flavouring. When I make my own soda syrup with blackberries there’s not way in hell I’m going to be able to take that intense colour out to make it clear. My stained tea towels would agree. The only other way I can think of would be that the natural juices could have been put through a rigorous filtration, or through fruit oils like the other commenter said. What I’m also saying is that it seems a bit silly to market something as all natural, present a clear one when people immediately conjure up the image of the fruit and its intense colour.
@samp5395

If y'all knew how easy fried apples are... My grandma's "recipe": Toss any sliced and cored apples in cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger powder (and any other dried spices you think smell good with the apples) until well-coated. Put a decent but *NOT* Paula Deen amount of butter in a skillet (if it's unsalted, add a pinch of small grained salt to balance the taste), let most of the moisture cook out of the butter. Throw the apples in and saute until the liquid starts releasing from them, then add brown sugar; if the brown sugar doesn't have enough liquid to turn into a loose sauce (maple syrup consistency) then add a bit of water or apple juice. Let simmer until the sugar syrup is coating the apples and they are soft enough to your liking - at least when you can poke a fork into them with ease. It may take a few tries to get it exactly how *you* like it, but at least the "mistakes" are delicious. ;) Seriously though, easy on the butter as there is such a thing as too much butter flavor.

@@jademorgan7518 It's a green seed pod that is usually a southern-style side dish. You can batter it and deep fry it, put it in succotash (a seasoned mix of corn, tomatoes, and beans), and have it pan fried as well; there are probably lots of other ways to cook it but those are the ones I'm familiar with. It can get a slimy consistency if you don't cook it right, so some people dislike it because their first bite of it was slimy and poorly cooked/seasoned. It is similar to a yellow summer squash in taste, but has more of an asparagus texture - kind of snappy unless it's stewed. They do have large seeds but those get soft when cooked - that texture can be off-putting for some people as well as the seeds can sometimes pop when bitten. I like okra a lot. :)
