Trying a 2024 KTM 500 EXC-F.

Love your Videos, i ride the single track, tighter stuff ( more flowing than extreme stuff)and im am just sizing up between a 300 exc 2stroker and 500exc , so on the 2 stoke are you swapping gears more( ie working the box more) paying more attention to where the revs are?no engine braking on the 2 stroke or has the TPI/TBI fuel injection/electronic power valves made them less aggressive/torque wise? or is the 500 a bit more forgiving,more torque/grunt one gear set and forget as such, or paying less attention to what gear your in or where the revs are etc etc, in these tighter conditions, not hard enduro but tighter 2nd-3rg gear flowy sandy whoopy stuff ( which really floats my boat? i live in Adelaide and we do alot of sandy stuff, i think SA is a sand pit made by God for dirt bikes-ha) i dont want to spend big $$ on a bike that may not suit my perception that you have too be aggressive on the 2 stroke to keep them in the meatier part of powerband, and i gather your normal bike is a 300 2 stroke and given the chance to throw leg on a 500 four stroker maybe shed more light "by the pants feel?" i would love a mate that has a current 300 2 stroke and ride them back 2 back but i dont, cheers mate keep uploading clips, someone is ALWAYS watching, cheers Pete

Hi Pete, My 300 was a carby model. This is the first 4 stroke I have owned since my 1998 XR600. I do ride single tracks but only on private property as riding single tracks in Victoria is illegal. If you buying a 2 stroke, go for a TBI. As my riding varies so much from hard enduro to open enduro to road book rallies and helping a mate out with tours, the 500 was just more suited to what I need. And as I work for a KTM dealership, it fair to say I got a great deal on it. Every bike has its positives and negatives, no one bike is perfect for everything. 4 strokes are better for sand and open stuff, 300 for hard enduro. The TPI and TBI are a lot easier to handle and ride compared to the carby 300's. I hope this helps. I appreciate the support and kind words. Ride well mate.

the other option is a 350.. but man the clutch is so much more fatiguing even on a 350 than a 300 through tight, snotty single track. Only way I'd go back to a 4T these days is with either a clake or.. dare I say.. rekluse? but only as a bike in addition to my 300, and never as a substitute.

@@ModularMuscle the 350’s are a great bike. Just stay away from 2017 to 2022. I will miss my 300.
