Mum inlaw gave us Her Dyson Big Ball its an older one we love it for the exact reason you brought the Kmart for ; sucks up all the dust only thing i noticed the cords are always short lol

Shark or Hoover is a really good vaccum. Don't get a Dyson doesn't last long especially a big house. Battery lasts an hour.
