😂I've still yet to try speed puzzling. I don't even know which method to start with. I'll probably just jump into it without a plan and see what happens LOL. I think it's awesome that you're going to the competition and not letting your timing stop you. Sending you lots of luck and have fun!!!

Thank you very much Mandy!! 🥰❤️ It was never about getting even to semifinals, but I was completely new to (also speed) puzzling and I did think that in 7 months I would be able to get a 500 piece puzzle done in under 90 minutes! 😄 Last week I got 1 h 32 min, so it's really close and now I'm even more annoyed! 🤣 If you want to try speed puzzling for a video, you could do what for example Alejandro (the world jigsaw puzzle champion from the last year) usually does: dump all the pieces on the table, flip them right side up and start puzzling straight away! It may not be the most comfortable way, but it could be entertaining. 😁 I'm looking forward to your video, good luck! 🥰❤️

I wouldn’t even try, I’m to easily distracted and I can’t stand jigsaws with cute little animals on them. The only jigsaw I have with an animal on it is a steam punk pug with a bowler hat on its head.

Interesting experiment for you. I've sometimes done the look at the box and place the piece in roughly the right area. It can be done in that way but I wouldn't regard it as a quick method. How you do the jigsaw boils down to the image. Does it lend itself to sorting by colour, blue for sky, green for trees etc? Looking at the image is essential otherwise you won't know what goes where. Ravensburger pieces are varied shapes so that will help but sorting by piece shape is best left until you are nearly at the end. However you do, enjoy yourself in Spain meeting lots of fellow puzzlers.

😂 i understand you fully 😂, by the way, the first puzzle on your desk is very hard, because the print is grainy. I didn’t finish it,I hated the way of printing. Veeeery unusual for Ravensburger Quality.

Thanks! 😅❤️ I was a bit shocked when I saw the pieces, but then I began to think that the image is probably painted on a canvas...? I don't know, but I have decided that is why it looks so grainy! 😂

This video won't load for me in the UK, not sure why! I'm able to watch your other videos, and other videos on KZbin right now with no problems at all.

What a enjoyable video - i missed your videos! Myself, I am not finding time to upload new videos at the moment although I have recorded several of my puzzle solves... The image was not perfect for build-as-I-sort (since one cannot identify all pieces on the box cover) but the lower part is fine enough. If you watch Donnaluise, she also puts several piles of pieces while she is building the busy parts. In fact, it is a sorting process (blue sky, dark trees,...) where you dont use the box but while sorting the difficult parts in piles you are building the easier parts. While building it is not really important to place every piece very exactly - the most important thing is that you put the piece *correctly rotated* (!) in approximately the spot where it belongs. If the pieces are correctly rotated you only need to move them up/down/left/right - which makes assembling so much easier! Starting with a larger puzzling space and shrinking it later is also a good idea - you mentioned it anyways. Newer Schmidt puzzles are very tight-fitting, i.e. the complete opposite of crumbliness. You obviously had an older puzzle with a very difficult, dark image (as it was usual in the 70s, 80s and partly 90s). The build-as-I-sort- method especially shines if you have a cartoony-like, colorful image that is very, very busy (you can google the Heye puzzle "In Summer" for reference - it was the last of my puzzles I solved with this specific method). As you mentioned, this method can be very enjoyable!

Thank you Steve, that's very nice to hear! 🥰❤️ Doing videos really is very time consuming and I have just wanted to enjoy our short summer to the fullest... 😅 You have very good points about the method, for example I had completely forgotten about those piles!! 😂 ...But how can they put the pieces the right way?? 🤯

I tried "build as I sort" a few times, but in a very laid back version - I just smash the pieces roughly at the area where I believe they should be. If it is something more obvious (any writing, very distinct objects) I try to build them as I go. If this is a bigger area or object (like those trees you have here) I'm not focusing of fiding where exactly it goes - just put them all together, and build those parts at the end.

Yes, that sounds like a good strategy! 🙂 I have now finally learned to do that with "Garden Visitors Challenge" organized by Vienna Jigsaw Puzzle Club on Instagram and I'm so happy! 🥰 Video coming very soon! ❤️

I started to colour sort a few months ago and now always colour sort in trays and find it really works for me. Good luck in Spain.

It loaded :D I would say that the method of trying to figure out what goes where with the box would be better applied later on. So, do a sort first, put together the piles that you have, and then when you have a lot less pieces to fit, it would be more helpful. This is a really difficult puzzle to put together at speed though :)

I got this feeling that there is some type of puzzle that you are super fast. Me and Kira ”sucked” at last weekend’s competition with a pokemon puzzle. I was surprised because we are both usually fast and I think it was the slowest puzzle for us… Anyway. I can see here that you are extremely methodical with the second puzzle. I think it goes hand in hand with the patience you mentioned. Mine is much more chaos one piece from there and there. I could learn from you. I’m a little bit in a denial that you haven’t done a puzzle in less than 1,5h 🧐 We definitely need to puzzle together someday!!! ☺️

It would be great to puzzle together someday! 😍 And yes, I did Vintage Cook Books in 55 minutes, but that was on the 6th try... 😅 I was trying to get a feel of faster puzzling, just as you later recommended to do with smaller puzzles. 🙂 I have now started to get consistently times like 1:44-1:47, so I think I'll get there eventually... But will it happen before we leave on September 17th?? This is so interesting!! 😄
