I'm glad I found you, I paint acrylic. After watching you I realized I was being to percise. Thanks Bro. Your paintings are beautiful. Cheers

Not often you see the Pacific Ocean like a mill pond! I much enjoyed the process - I was not worried by the 'noises off' there is not much you can do about things like that. Two sessions ago I was in a secluded sunny spot painting when a woman drove up, let here dog out and then proceeded to have a loud phone conversation! Perhaps i should have shouted, "You private life is very interesting ..." The composition and result reminded me of watercolour by William Russell Flint of the fortifications at St Malo on the French coast. An area of huge tidal variation an the rock formations or fortifications change shape rapidly but are symphonies of blues and oranges! I will try and find an image - but a fine diversion of a dank and wet day here!

Thanks so much Ian! I’ll have to look up that artist and that area. It’s fun and helpful to me to go back after a time and review these paintings - I can always see where I hit something nice - and always frustrating to see when I then cover it up 😄

Wonderful plein air, John. Glad the Gamsol wash is working for you on calmer days. Do you suppose it might be possible to stiffen up the Pissarro by gluing some sort of wood bracing on the back of the panel? Maybe 1/4 x 1/2". PVA Size might work as an adhesive.

Thanks so much Thomas! Yes, I's sure that would work. the backing is kind of a smooth plastic finish, not sure what adhesive youd need to use. I think though I'd rather use the already stiff Centurion or Gorilla Painter oil primed linen panels, which are not much more expensive.

On your block in right after the wash, are you using any medium there or just straight paint? It looks quite flowy

Thank you for watching. I add a little Gamblin Neomegilp in my mixed colors.
