Hi Karen - I'm a regular wig wearer - never human hair though as synthetic is so much easier to manage. That colour actually looks great on you. The beauty of wigs is that you can have fun with different styles and colours. Once your family and friends get used to seeing you in different ones it just becomes the norm. Wigs are just an accessory like jewellery, glasses etc. If you or anyone else is serious about wigs Simply Wigs is a great website to look at. Thousands to choose from and plenty of choice in shorter styles for older ladies! Have fun.

It's an open secret among the wig community that a wig (especially in a colour you were as a younger woman) absolutely rolls back the years. I have a 'special occasion' wig which is a shoulder length pale blonde with a lot of face framing layers and I get a ton of compliments whenever I wear it because it really does make me look like I did a decade ago. One of my granddaughters when she was little got quite upset seeing me in it and asked me not to wear it because I didn't look like nanny in it! Out of the mouth of babes heh?

I lost my hair two years running due to chemo .. first time I used scarves and beanies..second time bought a wig ..nhs give you a generous contribution towards one of your choice. I went for a short layerered grey one which once my hairdresser styled it looked very much the same as my own hair ..nobody could tell I was wearing it. Didn’t go for real hair but had one with an open mesh front so looked like my natural hairline. It made me feel so much more confident for a few months till my hair started growing again. I’ve packed it away now and hope I never have to wear it again.

I think you would have some fun wearing that wig! The wigs these days are far better and lighter than they were back in the early 70s when I had a few. Only wore them in cooler weather though but it was fun to have a totally different style and colour.xx Liz

It looks really good Karen( including the colour!) I wore a wig during lockdown, and because I wore the same length, and similar colour , to my natural hair, I’ve never had so many complements!! (I told people it was a wig and they were shocked😂😂 I had a silicone band that gripped it in place, and to start with, it was great, but later, ( after a few times wearing ), it started getting a bit loose, and slipping, and I no longer felt confident 🙁I bought mine from Simply Wigs online, it was a Raquel Welch wig( synthetic) , but I loved it….. so natural. xx

I never wear a wig grip band. I find them too hot. I always use wig adhesive which secures it rock solid in all weather conditions!

A big YES for the wig 👍 although I do love your grey. It’s great to have a change now & again that isn’t permanent & then takes ages to grow out. My hair has got very thin over the years & I do wear it short now but I had a phase of buying wigs - mainly synthetic ones - & have enjoyed wearing them. Very good video & informative, as always from you Karen, enjoy having a play & a dress up 😉❤️🌻
