Enjoyable session, nice scene setting before you started fishing. Really thought you were going to blank and then you had the conger. Good you deserved it. Thanks as always for posting.

Thanks David, I've been trying to add a little more ambience for some of the marks. Hopefully it's not too boring.👍👍

Nice try Dylan, this sea fishing is tough mate. Maybe it will pick up a bit in the coming months. Keep at it though it will all kick in one day, keep up the good work Dylan. Regards Andy. 👍🎣🎣
@FrugalOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Andy. No doubt about it, it can be a struggle at times. I find it hard to shake off the blanks especially in the comps. But at the end of the day, it's only fishing, it's not important, what's important is getting outside and having a go. You just never know which cast, which bait, which rig is going to slam the rod over. That keeps me going out and trying. I'm easily pleased though, so a strap is not a blank for me😂😂👍👍

Nice choice of mark there Dylan , do like fishing brook .maybe some mackerel baits there next time tho mate!.tidy little eel ..Brilliant video again dude 👍🏼👍🏼🎣

Thanks mate. I find it difficult to know what to take, as I'm still kind of targeting everything. I think I should just start taking squid mackerel and maybe crab, but then I should probably take worm, and bluey as well. Now I know why people spend so much on bait😂😂 I used to take a pack of squid and a wrap of lug. That would do 2 sessions. Those days are so long gone😂😂
@motorsnutts65942 жыл бұрын
@@FrugalOutdoors yes mate it is tempting to take lots of different bait out on a trip , but sometimes some baits are seasonal and some fish well all year round. As you say, squid ,macca and worm would sound to me like a good selection. Then adjusting one of the three baits for something different if needed

Nice bit of last cast action there Dylan, the good old Conger Eel on hand to beat the blank. I love Congers, should start getting a few up here shortly and I'm going to try for them properly this year. I've just been cleaning my rods and reels, hopefully going next weekend down to the Gower. Great watch as always bud, well done 👍👍🙏🐟

Thanks mate, always appreciate your comments. Was so frustrating missing a few bites, then couldn't believe I had a good bite on each rod. Was really happy to land something, anything to be honest. Not target species, but I defo need to work on my bass tactics. 😂😂

Success is measured by the way it makes you feel Dylan and I could see you really happy with your results mate, perseverance always pays, had a feeling, watching, they were straps, the small eyeds will be showing now on Yarverland, perhaps give it a go low to high with the same setup 😉 Take care buddy

Thanks mate, totally agree with that. I get a good buzz when that rod goes. I need to try and get myself over that way, I've heard a lot of good things about rays and bass that way👍👍👍

Great video ad usual. Have you read Mike Ladle’s book “Hooked on Bass”? Very old now, but a real eye opener. It’ll change the way you fish for bass for sure.

Thanks mate, I haven't, but I think my buddy has mention it before. I do need to look up on some tips for bass fishing, as to be honest, I'm not really sure what I'm doing when it comes to bass. I managed to get about 6 keepers last year, so I'm hoping to better that this year👍👍

Had a few Bass & Mullet down Whale chine, careful of the naked people in the summer though 🙂
@FrugalOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
I've managed to get an hour in from st Catherine's side, but always been too sketched out by the climb down at whale chine. I really want to try it though, as it looks and sounds really good down there. Do you know if there is access through the chine from the carpark, or is it only the dodgy rope access at the corner. Thanks for the info buddy 👍👍👍
@TommieEgan2 жыл бұрын
@@FrugalOutdoors there's a couple of ways down from the car park, most times I've been down ive noticed a few fossil collectors with bags of kit so it's quite accessable.

Those strap congers are a nuisance and ruin any fishing outing. Understand though that it’s just symptomatic of massive overfishing. It wasn’t great when I was a boy, but there were certainly more bass and mullet, well, everything really around then. Shore fishing these days is woefully poor unfortunately. Credit to you for trying. It’s nice to be out as well. Feel for you Dylan. You go fishing full of optimism, but straps scupper your plans. Trouble boats round from lymington, and trawl up down out off of F.Bay to Compton. Just kills it everytime. A little tip. Never post what you catch on the forums, and try and keep the location hidden if you catch any thing of quality. The commercial guys check the forums etc for info. Don’t give anything away. Discretion is the key. Hope this helps Dylan. Tight lines mate.

Thanks buddy, I guess I'm fortunate in a way, not having fished for very long, I don't have memories of the good old days, when there was more fish. It's definitely hard going sometimes, but then I'm still quite happy to catch anything.😂👍👍

i would say 95% of the rays ive caught from the back of the island have come at distance (120 to 150 yards), if you want an easy way to get some extra yards look into ground casting,its perfect for beach's like brook/chale & far less intimidating that pendulum casting,keep trying you will get that ray soon.
@FrugalOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info mate. I'll keep that in mind for future. I want to get back to brighstone on my next session. That's supposed to hold some good rays etc. Good to know from someone about distance. I've been trying much closer of late, just on the off chance of getting a bass. Seems to be a few about at the moment 👍👍

Enjoyable video, blank saved ! Is that a Penn XR rod, do you like it ? Which model, as thinking of getting one, nice finish to them, how you that fish Cheers in advance
@FrugalOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Hey buddy, it is the xr420. It's the beach caster rather than the surf caster. It's pretty stiff to be honest, but it does still have some decent bite detection. The align system doesn't line up, so is pretty pointless, and the screw on the reel seat has split, which Penn won't replace because I'm the second owner. To be honest, I think there are better rods in that price range. It's ok, but if I'd bought it new and paid £150, I'd be pretty miffed. Hope that helps your decision making👍👍
