The more you complete the more addictive it gets I did one and now I’m on ten I can’t stop lol it’s a nice pass time to do when your done with school for the day at home to calm down.

Watching a new person getting so excited about this craft is so nice to see and hear. I have been diamond painting for over 5 years. I have completed approximately 60 paintings (all large in size) and some ornament sets. I started out doing round drills but quickly found square drills were my favorite as they give you a more complete looking picture when finished. Some hints: 1. size makes a difference. The smaller it is the more pixilated. If you have faces in your picture, go big! 2. Find a way to set up a drill system for you. I purchased 4oz. Slime cups (plastic with lid) and write on them using a Sharpie. I write the DMC# and the symbol on each cup. When I am finished I use an Expo Marker directly over the Sharpie to erase. Then proceed setting up next canvases drills. 3. Start saving your extra Drills. Why? Because sometimes other kits are short beads, or you don't like a color so you want to change it, or a bead falls off eventually. 4. Complete your canvas in sections. I prefer starting on the bottom right and complete all colors for a symbol in that section and complete that entire section and move on. If you don't like the plastic it comes with, you can replace with parchment paper or buy these squares to cover in small patches. 5. Try not to get anything stuck to the glue. If you do get paper stuck, have Baby Wipes on hand as that will bring the stickiness back. 6. Use Painters tape or duck tape to cover the extra adhesive around the canvas so you don't stick to it and it doesn't get dirty. When you are finished you can use Washi tape to make a pretty edge around it to frame. 7. I seal my paintings when finished. The three I like best are Krylon Glitter Blast Gloss spray paint, Modge Podge super gloss and Min wax polyurethane gloss. Always gloss, never matte. Hope this helps anyone out wanting to start this craft. It does become addicting trust me.

What wonderful tips you shared. I was given a diamond painting kit this week as a present and these tips will really help me to get set up and doing my first painting. Thanks so much.

@@rachaelbullmore48 You're so welcome. I realized when I reread what I wrote that I left out probably one of the biggest tips. Lol. I highly, highly suggest getting a light board if you can. I started with an A4 size which is the smallest (standard 8x10paper size) and just moved it around under my canvas. I upgraded to an A3 size and love it as it covers a larger section (16×20 I think). When I first started I didn't have a light board so I wore one of those headbands with a light on it and quickly realized I needed the light under the canvas. Also, did I mention Aliexpress? I buy my canvases on there as the larger sizes are cheaper. They come from China so a little slower. If you want to know any good stores let me know! Have fun! And be prepared, this is addicting!

Heyo! So a recommended size for beginners is 30x40 and amazon do really lovely ones that size. They are usually less than £10. Also light pads are useful as it lights up the symbols, making them easier to see. You can get an A4 one or A3. They range in price. I hope this helps!
