meimei you are so adorbs! Thank you for the update. We used to take friends up to the North Shore to do the Shrimp Truck tours too. Now we just stay in town and go to the Giovanni’s at the HMart because it’s cleaner, has air conditioning, restrooms, and no flies and critters to swat away. You’ve given me a few reasons to resume the shrimp tours again ♥️

We used to like Giovanni's and Fumi's, but we agree, Jenny's Shrimp is the best nowadays! We went back to Jenny's Shrimp 3x on our last trip there! Also, Waiola Shave Ice is wayyy better than Matsumoto's.. No contest! Fumi's is good for the drive, but Jenny's is top for us now.

Waiola doesn’t pack their shave ice enough and it gets slushy too fast. I think the shave ice consistency of Shimazu’s next door to Rainbow Drive-in is much better. As an overall shave ice dessert, my favorite is the #2 at Coffee or Tea in the McCully Shopping Center - shave ice with coffee syrup, topped with coffee and tea jello, sweetened condensed milk, and then a scoop of Kona coffee ice cream, bordered with whipped cream 😋

Fumis is by far the best shrimp food truck in Oahu! I can’t not go there when I visit Oahu. And the Shrimp farms are right in the back of the place!

Have you tried Aoki's shave ice? It's right across the street from Matsumotos and personally, another example of a place that's better than the most famous spot. I grew up eating Aoki's though so I might be biased

I tried Jenny’s for the first time last month and I fell in LOVE with the Spicy Garlic Shrimp! It’s one of the most flavor packed I’ve had! No lines too!!! Giovanni’s is good but just not the best 🤙🏻😃

Pro tip* if you don’t feel like driving far - Giovanni’s shrimp truck new location in Honolulu! 458 Keawe st. Floor 2 ! Inside a grocery store! You will never think it’s there. Very convenient 10 -15 mins away fr Waikiki beach! . I got to be honest My all time favorite it’s FUMIS! never disappoints. I loveee hawaii content, I’m always looking for food spots. Giovanni’s in town is located in the upstairs food court of HMart. It’s air conditioned with clean table, chairs, and restrooms and best of all no flies and critters to swat. There is free one hour parking in the parking lot next door, too.

Overlooked by many but pretty good. Jenny ‘s #1 but Aloha is right behind. Jenny’s has bad flies almost always but Aloha, never seen them. Perhaps being closer to ocean helps blow them away.

Ted’s put Parmesan cheese on their garlic shrimp … it’s fine if you like Parmesan but it was a bit strange for me 😉

We were there last May. The line for Giov's was too long and so we crossed the street to get Jenny's and we were FLOORED at how good that was. We looked at the plates that Giovanni's was serving and felt like we made the right choice. The Spicy at Jenny's was the best shrimp I've ever had, hands down. One thing is that the quality of Shrimp at each of those trucks probably varies from day to day... Thanks for these vids!

I think Giovanni's has too much hype. When we went, we got some of the favorite flavors and it was not all that. The shell was hard to chew through like you said. I love the hot and spicy pineapple shrimp from the Geste shrimp truck in Maui!

We visited Dec 2023. We had Jenny's twice. It was excellent. Overall Flavor, shrimp texture. It was all worth it. We will try some others when we return next year. I was also surprised some folks eat the shell. 😮

I’ve lived in Hawaii for pretty much my entire life and I’ve only tried Giovanni’s. Which I thought was okay. It’s awesome to see all the celebrities that signed the truck though. I love shrimp and prawns though it’s one of my favorite seafoods.

I tried Jenny's shrimp and it wasn't my favorite, it lacked flavor. The best one I had was the garlic shrimp in koalua Ranch. I wish I could have it rn🥲

Giovanni’s is overrated. Big wave is my fave, mainly because they serve already peeled shrimp so you don’t have to work to peel your shrimp 😅 but the shrimp and garlic is always so so good! Plus, it’s the first shrimp truck once you enter Haleiwa so you don’t have to drive too far for your shrimp lol

I don’t believe any of the shrimp trucks strictly use the shrimp from the kahuku shrimp farms. The kahuku shrimp sold in markets are smaller, all have heads on them and I find the kahuku farmed shrimps have a muddy taste to them. Wild, ocean caught shrimp is still the best, non-Hawaiian farmed shrimp are bigger and plumper than the kahuku farmed shrimp, too.
