As a 40 year old, I just gotta say I so enjoy how y’all interpret mid-rise jeans as low-rise. In the early 2000s low-rise jeans required grooming to pull off.

I'm in my 30s and in my teens I was traumatized by low rise, not even kidding! And then recently I bought a couple or mid-to-low rise jeans and wide trouser pants, and they fit so good! Like, they are low, but they still can hold the entirety of my (quite chonky) butt! What sorcery is this?

i really like that you used nuuly to try the trends! this seems like a better way to do it than buying stuff from the thrift store or thredup (those aren't necessarily bad, but i do feel bad when you end up not liking them cause it feels wasteful). wish thrift stores would open up fitting rooms again - that would be the best (and least expensive) way to do it!

Great idea to use Nuuly rentals for a trends video. Since they only/mainly carry brands from companies related to Urban Outfitters, there’s going to be a very current trendy selection. A note of caution for normies, though, Nuuly users are not supposed to wash the clothes while they have them (in case this damages them, which makes you wonder about the quality of those brands) and you have to wonder how well the items are cleaned back at head office. I’ve seen videos of other clothing rental workers just using moist wipes to spot clean and a dry brush on most items before they’re shipped out again. Some Nuuly users have reported musty smells. I’d say do a careful hand wash or abstain. For a similar price per item, you can wash something from the thrift store no questions asked and keep it forever if you want to.

Someone put me on to allllways checking the fabric composition of anything I want to buy- polyester tends to make you more sweaty and isn’t super breathable, acrylic normally isn’t v comfy for me but cotton is normally a safe bet. *In reference to the sweater dress (which DOES look amazing btw💚)

The sweater dress looks gorgeous on you, but I totally understand why you wouldn't wear it - I'm all about comfort too. I like the dresses and skirts over pants trend; I think the shape of the clothing pieces would determine how cohesive the outfit looks. I also love the balaclava. I recently thrifted a crochet elf hood, it's looser than a balaclava but a similar concept and sooo cute!

You should try the cargo pants with a really feminine fun sweater! I love cargo pants and I wear them this way all the time! Also they work really well with combat boots :) also my favorite combo is mint green sweater with an army or olive green cargo pant 💚

For the dresses and skirts over jeans, I really think its the cut of the jean that makes it or breaks it. A straight leg/mom style where it kind of tapers in at the ankle gives a more oval silhouette. Maybe try a skinny jean, or a baggy jean, boot cut or flare cut. Experiment! Experimenting with clothes is so fun :D I also think the length of the skirt or dress is a factor, but I think the cute white dress you have there is a really good candidate. Its a visual balancing act.

The dress over jeans can be cute but you have to have the right proportions. Depending on what length dress you might want to wear a wide leg jean vs. a straight leg Jean. I think you could rock it!

I agree cargo pants are hard to style, especially the low rise ones! I only own higher waisted ones & pair them with a more cropped wrap top which I think adds in some daintyness as you mentioned & converse since they have that sporty look but are sleek. I dunno. I just like having pockets that are big enough to hold my phone and cargos have a bunch of those pockets haha. Also, I love the way the lil knit devil bonnet looks the way you were wearing it with a few whispy hairs out!. :)

okay with dress over pants I think finding a dress that hits you mid thigh is perfect and the pants should be slightly flared out by the knee! Play around with textures on the dress or the pants and pair with a neutral color or pop or color!! Think white lace pants with a brown flowy mini dress or black lace mini dress over velvet black flared leggings

The cargo pant thing is interesting because the vibe is so different between the kind of streetwear version you tried and the more gorpcore version I'm more familiar with. I actually like the version here but it's just not personally what I think of when I think of cargo pants.

With the dress over jeans -- it could be a matter of balance? I personally would say that with the "heavy" boots, the dress should have at least some sleeve (short, puff - perfect!). Otherwise, I would balance that particular dress with a kitten heel/ more delicate shoe :)

i feel like the silhouette is a bit off for the cargo pants outfit. i think a shoe that's more narrow (like an adidas samba) would balance out the volume in the pants and make the outfit work!

The dress over jeans is cute, you just need a different pair of jeans. Those are very baggy and go in at the bottom so it makes an odd silhouette. A bootcut pair of jeans would look better cause the flare at the bottom would even out the width of the top

I can't with trends, I've never been able to join trends, I have been wearing the same style of clothing since I was 14 and it's never changed haha I guess I've always just known my personal style and that works so well for me. It is fun to take small inspirations but overall I would never buy metallic pants or cargo pants 😂 I actually do wear sweater dresses though, especially if they have a turtle neck 😂🩷

For dresses over pants I think it needs to be an actual dress, not a skirt and top. The skirt and top in 2 colors and then pants in a third color just breaks up your body into too many chunks. But a dress that is a continuous line over pants extends the vertical line. You recently thrifted a white puffy baby doll dress that could look cute over pants, like maybe those shiny pants that Jenna made you. For trends like silver metallic I personally think they work way better as shoes or bags, not as pants.
