Crackling is good with beer. If you see chicharon in a filipino store you can eat those as a snack or you can sprinkle them as add on if you order pancit :D

You should try Universal Yums. It's snacks front a different country every month. We started it during Covid and we have so much fun getting our new boxes and trying snacks from places I know we will never visit. Cute educational things for kids too. Love your videos xo

I grow up with those snacks and i can vouch how good they are and I'm glad you're enjoying them. I hope you can find some sampalok there ( it's like a tamarind candy, it comes with 2 kinds which are seedless and with seeds and one can have salt in it and one can have sugar) , chippy is a good snack too if you want something with a little kick. V cut is good too. I highly recommend you try Marty's chicharon ( it's a good substitute to the real chicharon which is a deep fried pork like a pork belly but it has a more crunchy and snacky texture). If you want something sweet I also recommend Hany or choc nut, they are mini candy bar like but made up of peanuts. Looking forward to your future reviews. 😊

A Short Primer to Eating Filipino Food Hi Meagan - I'm loving your videos! You really seem to genuinely like Filipino food! I'm hoping that you don't get disappointed when you try authentic Filipino food so please read below. It's a long read but it will surely help you get the best experience out of Filipino food. A. Rice and Viands All Filipino dishes esp. the savory ones that are called "viands" are ALWAYS eaten with steamed, plain, white rice. They're usually have the level of saltiness, sweetness, spiciness, etc., that is intended to be eaten with rice. A "perfect bite" is a combination of the right amount of rice and viand that are enough to complement each other. Don't forget to add steamed plain rice to your order! B. Sauces & Dips Filipino food usually come with dips and sauces. Note that these are NOT meant to be smothered onto rice or mix the entire sauce container into the viand. You either dip the food into it (not the rice) or put a small amount of the dip/sauce to the food. This way, you can adjust based on your preference. Filipino dips and sauces usually have STRONG flavor. The common ones are vinegar, fish sauce (very salty), and soy sauce. Some food come with their own sauces, e.g., Lumpiang Shanghai with sweet & sour sauce, Kare-kare with bagoong (shrimp paste with VERY STRONG salty, fishy flavor) C. Desserts Filipino desserts, unlike American desserts are not too sweet. To first-timers, they might feel that Filipino desserts lack the oomph or sweetness they expect from American desserts and sweets. Check this web page for the must-try Filipino food that you can't go wrong: www.zenrooms.com/blog/filipino-food/ Important Notes: 1. Most food in that page (except Kwek-kwek) is eaten with rice. 2. Adobo comes with either chicken, pork or all other protein/meat that Filipinos eat. I suggest try both chicken and/or pork adobo. 3. Sinigang is a sour stew. You might be put off at first by the strong sour flavor but you will get used to it after a while. It wouldn't be crowned "2021's Best Soup in the World" if it's not good! Sinigang is Taste Atlas’ 2021 Best Soup in the World (thebeat.asia) 4. Kare-kare comes with "bagoong" which is a VERY SALTY shrimp paste. The dish itself is not very salty so the shrimp paste is used to elevate the flavors a little. DON'T MIX the sauce to the dish. Just put a small amount with your every bite. 5. Halo-halo is literally "mix-mix" when translated to the native language. This dessert is eaten with all the ingredients all mixed together so mix the entire thing before eating it.
