Fun fact: What makes Filipino street foods bomb is with sauces. You can have 5 stores beside each other selling the same foods but it will be the sauces/dips that reveal who's the best.

Balut is normally a midnight snack for Filipinos and it's good for stamina and it has a lot of protein so men mostly eat them. Turon is everywhere and mostly sold between 2 to 4 PM as a snack. Lumpiang ubod or fresh lumpia is mostly known food in festivals. The fried version is a lumpiang toge or "okoy" and its made ingredient is toge or bean sprouts. Buko pandan is an amazing desert during Christmas and New Year's eve. It's the Filipino version of Fruit cocktail. Since coconuts and pandan leaves are abundant in the Philippines, or ancestors threw in shaved coconut meat or buko, threw in milk and cream, and then put pandan leaf or vanilla leaf in to bring in a sweet aroma. As times go by, jellos or gelatins are added for additional texture and color that's why it's green.

lol people realizing intestines tastes like sausages or hot dogs, when hot dogs and sausages literally is the intestine of pork or beef or chicken or whatever. its literally their guts inside of their intestines. they take the intestines and clean and drain them and fill them with their meats and inards that we dont use often, like the scraps and then its stuffed in the intestines like stuffing a sock. many countries that have hot dogs and sausages use the intestines to make them. so idk it was just kinda funny but sad with them not realizing why it tastes like hot dogs and sausages. most of the food that was made is stuff we like here. bbq skewer foods, fried foods, sweet and savory combinations. i dont understand why people overcomplicate trying new things

What a coincidence! I was munching on Balut when this video played :D Quick tip for anyone who wants to try balut: 1.1st timers should start with #16 - its the one with the most soup and the chick isnt even developed yet. 2. after drinking the soup , drizzle a lot of spiced vinegar to the egg or chick and sprinkle some salt to it too. 3. After you take a bite, take a sip of the vinegar and get some salt too. 4. Enjoy everyday and move up to 17-18-19-20-21-22-23-24 till your comfortable :) 5. If you just want the experience but dont want the chick just get Balut Penoy - basically just a hard boiled egg :D
@Spangeeplays3 жыл бұрын
oh one more thing - the number represents the number of days the egg has been incubating before it was cooked - the least is 16 max 24. the higher you go up the more developed the duck will be

There's a vague standard of what behaviour a filipino should have. I just think of it that we don't want to represent our country in a bad way. It's like the need to protect the image. "If you're good to us then we're good to you" and vice versa kind of thinking. Of course not everyone can follow.

For those of you who don’t know, Balut typically has a number written on the shells signifying the level of the chick’s maturity inside - the higher the number, the more mature it is. I tried number 18 (the chick had bones and feathers already) before, and it tastes and feels like fried fish that was added unto a soup. There’s another variety called, “[Balut] Penoy” which does not have any chick inside. When you crack the top part, you can mix the juice with the vinegar mixture then slurp it before eating the egg (better with salt or vinegar). It’s very high in cholesterol, so one or two should be enough.

Giving them balut with no spoon to crack it open or lumpiang ubod with no fork/utensiles was kind of an oversight. I can appreciate letting them figure out on their own how the food is eaten, but at the very least, the tools should be presented with the food. I do love the choices of food y'all picked!

I feel like people who know how to eat them should atleast teach them how to eat it and which sauce should be partnered with it.
