Pao is the Portuguese word for bread. The traditional "pao" used for vada pao was originally baked by Portuguese colonists in Goa around 1700, and over time, made its way to Mumbai and the rest of India.

Wow, thank you for sharing this. After reading your comment, I looked up on Wiktionary and found "Portuguese pão Inherited from Old Galician-Portuguese pan, from Latin pānem". In my mother tounge Bengali, we call it পাঁউরুটি(pãuruṭi). So "pãuruṭi" is "pãu"+"ruṭi".

Curd and Yoghurt are not exactly the same thing. Curd can be made at home with natural coagulation of milk with environmental bacteria but Yoghurt is made by infusing with particular strains of bacteria called Lactobacillus and Streptococcus.

The best place to have Pav bhaaji is at Sardar Paav Bhaji - which is located at Tardeo, Bombay central, in Mumbai. They have 2 varieties, the Normal Amul Butter Pav Bhaaji and the second one I think is the Black Pav bhaaji. Just check out the pavs(bread) they serve there. They are completely different and Real Authentic pavs. Those pavs are aunthentic Portugese pavs that the Portugese introduced in Goa & Mumbai. They are much softer, less dense, much more fluffy and go extremely well with Amul Butter. Also, the bhaaji is a typical Maharashtrian vegetable slurry preparation with typical Maharashtrian Garam Masala spices.

Places to eat at in Mumbai: *1. Elco Pani puri - (area - Bandra west in Mumbai)* - One of the best Pani puris in town. Very clean & hygienic. They use bottled mineral water to make these. So very safe to eat Pani Puris at this place. *2. Sardar Pav Bhaaji - (area - Tardeo in Mumbai)* - The best and the most buttery Paav Bhaaji on Planet Earth. *3. Bade Miyan - Late night place - is open till 3 am or so (area - near Taj hotel & the Gate way of India in Mumbai)* A late night place, patrons eat in their cars, but has a seating area as well. Famous for their wraps, Tikkas, Tandooris & barbecued stuff. *4. Leopold Cafe (area - Colaba causeway in Mumbai)* - Nice beer, barbecues, nice desserts. *5. Pancham Puriwala - (area - fort in Mumbai)* - 5 types of puris(bread), savory dishes & desserts. *6. Persian Darbar - (area - Bandra west in Mumbai)* Famous for their Raan Biryani. Delicious Mughlai cuisine. You'll love it. *7. Mahesh Lunch home - (area - Juhu Tara road in Mumbai)* Heaven for Sea food lovers. Very clean & hygienic and you can get the most iconic sea food dishes here. *8. Mini Punjab's Lake side - (area Powai in Mumbai)* Need to call and book a thaali(platter) in advance. Famous for its Dara Singh Thaali - available in both veg & non-veg versions. A must try. *9. Britannia & co. restaurant - (area - Ballard estate, Fort in Mumbai)* Famous for its Irani / Parsi cuisine. Awesome Desserts & Sodas. *10. Anand Stall - (Vile Parle west in Mumbai)* A fast food joint famous for its awesome Vada Paav, Sandwiches & Dosas. *11. Mohammed Ali road - (Area - CST - 6 pm onwards till late night)* The whole street is filled with street vendors who sell various non-vegetarian stuff and some vegetarian too. Plus, there are some really nice restaurants on the same street. Try the famous dessert that you get only on this street in a sweet shop. The dessert is called Aflatoon.

If I be brutally honest, then the best parts of India are shimla, dehradhun, kashmir and alui (snow parts unfortunately only in winter) kochi, kerela, munnar, andaman and nicober islands, laksdweep, goa, udaipur, darjleeng, gangtok, kalimpong, lonavla, dharamshala and himachal cuz we Indians love visiting those places as it truly represents our country's beauty... Delhi, Mumbai and kolkata are big hectic cities full of noise and air pollutions plus lacks cleanliness!! So if u have time do try to visit those places

There is bit difference in Curd & Yoghurt. Curd has uncontrolled fermenting process While Yoghurt goes Controlled fermentation process. So there is difference between texture of Curd & Yoghurt.

Cook it yourself I am Indian And I will say don't eat street food outside much. Because it's not healthy. I Mean the recipe is healthy. But the street food makers use cheap and low quality content for cooking. Not all but But I avoid. Prefer Eating food from a lady food maker. But I say it's better to Make it at home by watching KZbin videos of it with proper ingredients.

You should try Parsi food in Mumbai, particularly at a restaurant called Brittania and Co. Some Parsi dishes to eat are 1) Patrani Fish 2) Mutton Cutlets 3) Chicken Farcha 4) Berry Pulao 5) Dhansak. 6) Lagan Nu Custard Then there is a bakery in Mumbai called Theobroma, their cakes are awesome and Alfonso Junior will really love them. That bakery is run by a young Parsi woman. Some famous Parsis are: 1) Freddie Mercury: Famous Globally 2) Shanaya Irani: Famous in Turkey as her serial Iss Pyaar ko Kya Naam Doo became hit in Turkey. 3) Boman Irani: As Virus in 3 idiots film. He is well known in Philippines. 4) Ratan Tata 5) Adar Poonawala: He saved millions of lives during Covid. I saw 2 films and 1 series with Parsi protagonists: Bohemian Rhapsody, Sam Bahadur and Rocket Boys.
