Hey loves! So in today's Japanese food video I'm trying Japanese Candy with my love Roxette Arisa! She tried Mexican candy on her channel, the link will be listed down below so check it out! I've never tried Japanese Candy / Japanese snacks before so this was an interesting taste test. I'm more used to chili, salty candy so this candy tasting was a treat lol! FUN FACT! Hi-chews are super chewy because where they are originally from people aren't allowed to chew gum (they see it as disrespectful) I work for a broker in New England so we carry hi chews and the president of the company explained this to us 😱 p.s. They're my faveees too especially the mango and strawberry ❤️

I had no clue they were japanese, in NYC they are literally everywhere. They come as regular $1 packs or small bags at grocery/ chain drug store. They taste EXACTLY like bonkers candy of the 80s.

My uncle used to work at a Japanese store and they had like a mini restaurant bar and the rest was like an Asian supermarket I used to get the soda with the ball inside,panda treats with chocolate inside,pocky,hi chew,green tea KitKat and a lot more it was delish

The sour candy is called シゲキックス (sigekikkusu) which is maybe named from shigeki (Japanese word meaning "stimulation") + mix or max. So it's meant to be super sour to stimulate you to, for example, wake you up:)

I am 1/4 Japanese My grandma is 100% she used to get me MOCHIS All the time too they are really good! I miss her alot 😔 I left the States and moved to okinawa her Hometown she always talked about it she said it was beautiful. I originally came here to visit but now I live here. The Koala candy is actually something they used to sell in the same green hexagon box here in the US in the 1990’s. They were called Koala Yummies, and were usually found next to the animal crackers box.

Weird that I had 3 of those the Hi Chew, the Pocky yummy and the 🐨 Koala cookies but I think I had a different flavor because it wasn't matcha green tea for sure... I also had sum Panda 🐼 cookies that trooped similar to the Koalas 🐨 and they were awsum too... but the best was Mochi Ice Cream hands down better than that weird mochi redbean which I had and forgot about it wasn't that great and also weird to me because it was just sugar taste not much flavor... um but yeah Mochi ice cream is the best but isn't cheap and I love the texture idk what shes talking about its velvet soft and doughy and the ice crema inside its chef's kiss omg my mouth is watering as I reminisce haven't had one since 2020 so a year almost wow... I need to get sum 😩 🥰😍🤩😋
