The blood drink is called Michelada, this drink was invented in my City: San Luis Potosí, it includes chilli powder, lime, worchestershire or soy sauce and clam&tomato juice. It is very understandable that you don't like them because you don't grow eating chilli candy so it is an agressive taste for most of the world mouths. Even if I try a michelada prepared outside of my hometown I ussually consider them Hideous. Also I am a Hamburger lover and I can tell you that very few places serve decent burgers, so I recommend to just stick to eat mexican food.

Micheladas vary by region. Basically they are any combination of beer and juice with different spicing. Tomato is very common (I prefer clamato) but you will also see them with lemon/lime. Good for day drinking as you don't get drunk too quickly.

You're right, he did do it as a joke, just as he did while driving and speeding over speed bumps and driving aggressively while the two other passengers were already uncomfortable from the size of the car - maybe funny for Simon but at the expense of the patience of the other two.
