That pudding thing was confusing me, so I looked it up...you mistake was that you waited too long to put the water on it. The Water has to boil when you poor it over it, and then you have to stir properly until all the powder is gone.

Actually "Waldmeister" is not just a flavor but a plant growing in the forest at spring. I googled the English word for it and it is woodrush. Before it became a common synthetic flavor for sweets and drinks, the plant was dried a bit (to get the typical flavor) and the most important ingredient of "Mai Bowle" which traditional is drunken in May/spring.

Meanwhile me: I'm German and rescently since maybe 1 or 2 years some malls I went in got stores who sell importat (and overpriced) American candy and I tried a few of these and yeah... thats so bad... I mean if you grow up in Germany the only candy you have high expectations on is maybe Japan so you get a bit lost when the American stuff is eighter tasting too similiar or weird. I tried Hersheys, lifesavers, nerds, lafitafi and something where I forgot the name from and nothing really had it for me. back before I turned pescetarian I also had the huge marshmellows sometimes they importat from the US and sold in my local supermarket but cause they are made from gelatine I am not having them anymore and that was the only American candy I liked so far

A lot of people in Germany drink the "Ahoi Brause" with vodka shots. You should try that too! It's called Schüttelvodka or shaken vodka, because you first put a whole bag of Ahoi Brause in your mouth, add a shot of vodka and then you shake your head so both get mixed together in your mouth. 😅😅😅

Love seeing German Boxes!! My Grandma Elsie was full blooded German and my mom was first born generation here. They settled in Iowa and came here for Boeing for my grandma to get out of farming. A few years back I was in Cody, Wyoming for a vacation, we stopped at a little local ice-cream shop and their flavor for the month was "black licorice" ... we of course tried it, we liked it but we love the anise flavor, it was very rich however and we ended up splitting a small scoop, if you ever run across it, give it a try, it's surprising a good little treat. I've never thought to eat pudding warm, but when my mom used to make the "cooked puddings" which she then refrigerated, I always enjoyed licking the spoon after she stirred it in the pot, it was still warm and yummy. Thanks for sharing another great box with us, they are always fun.

I lived in the UK for a while and loved the M&S Percy Pigs, they reminded me a lot of the German version Fred Ferkel by Katjes. On the Percy Pig package it says they’re made in Germany and funnily enough if you look it up it’s Katjes who makes them for M&S!

@@ThisWithThem IIrc the package says it has to still bubble from boiling when you pour it into your cup and then you have to stir until it dissolved completely and already thickens. It really warms your soul, warm creamy pudding :)

It's funny you say the Katjes are similar to Percy pigs. They actually sell "Fred Ferkel", which tastes and looks exactly like he vegan percy pigs. Recently moved to Germany from London and I find a lot of comfort in snacking on the Fred Ferkels whenever I miss the UK!

I remember trying plops once and loved them. I also love the massive variety that Haribo have. My husband and I have been to Scotland for our honeymoon in 2019 and we both love black liquorice so we bought some in tesco. After trying them we both understood why people not from Germany hate liquorice so much. We didn't really like it to put it in 'nice' words since we both were so used to the texture and the flavor of German liquorice.

Waldmeister is sweet woodruff, it is a very popular flavour in Germany for ice cream, liqueur, Maibowle (May punch, similar to a cider I would say ), soda, sirup. One of the substances that gives it is flavour is Coumarine, which is also in tonka beans and cinnamon and causes every year discussions of how many cinnamon stars are safe to eat. It was actually banned in the 80's as a flavour but later they put a limit on how much is allowed in food. But you are safe. "No, that was in your mouth" Being coy with the candy and later... snogging. :-p

You were actually not so far off when you said that the Katjes Grünohrhasen taste like Percy Pigs. The manufacturer is actually Katjes and we have the exact same pigs in Germany, however they are called Fred Ferkel. I remember when I first moved to the UK a friend wanted to tell me how great these are and I was like ‘I know them!’ To be fair, I actually prefer Colins 😬

We even do the ahoj Brause with vodka. You take 1 pack put it in your mouth and Take a shot of vodka. Then you smush it around in your mouth like mouthwash and then you swallow it 🤣🤣🤣 should try it out with friends. Its funny to see the faces because its so sour. 😁😁🥰

Anna was right. The right amount of water added to "Seelenwärmer" is les than a cup. The instruction really sucks. You have to just add water until the pudding thickens. That is the right amount. About 90-100 ml.
