After losing and breaking my old ND filters, and a few weeks of shooting with welding glass, I finally got a new set of filters. And of course, I went to Lake Michigan to try them out.

You could buy different color paint markers and then make a simple dot or line on each of the filter rings so you know which is which.

I used to have them, but in terms of robustness, they were not great. They got scratches quite easily, even though I am a very careful person. Now I own B+W filters and the competitive Freewell magnetic system, and sonfar so good. Not a single scratch after months of use.

Congratulations with the Samyang 135 mm, people are so happy with this lens! For myself I think I'll save my money for the new Sigma 50 mm f2, as it looks so cool. I can imagine my great-great-great-grandfather Ovren Mikkelson, coming from Boston or New York, changing train in Chicago, going down to Lake Michigan, to take a look at his new "Lake Mjøsa", in June 1871. He settled in Cambridge, Wisconsin, 73 y.o., where he lived for 16 years. From his forge in his small homestead Overnengen, he could watch the sunrise over Lake Mjøsa in the mornings, I've found a nice stone a little above the forge, I can imagine him sitting there, smacking his pipe. I'm sure he went to Lake Michigan, when his longing for Lake Mjøsa became too strong.

Hi Adrian, Thank you for taking more photos of Lake Michigan. Those Kase ND filters look like they are of high quality, well built filters. Looking forward to your next video from Spain.

Hi Adrian. Stunning video with awesome pictures in it. These filters are very pricy you are a lucky guy, my friend. I bought the square format book on your site. There is a lot in here that I can use very well. I want to delve into the square format and actually start working with it. And then this book is a very good guideline on how to use the square format in the right way. Anyway, I'm very happy with it. A friendly greeting, Antoine.

They're great! I bought the Case Wolverine Magnetic filters last year and love them. Because I have one lens with a 82mm filter thread, I picked up the 82mm set (3, 6, 10 & PL) and added step-up rings to my other lenses. Also, since I leave the step-up rings on my lenses, I picked up extra magnetic lens caps for them. As for identifying the various filters when stacked together, a couple of drops of colourful nail polish around the filter diameter does the trick.

Kase have just released the revolution version of their magnetic circular filters, which are colour coded.

Really intersting video. Them filters are great! Your idea of colour coding is good. Make stripes on edges! I use nail laquer on my AA batteries, to keep pairs together! I use small compacts! Film would be BIG problem with long exposures and reciprocity factors! Always good! Bravo.

I've used Kase Magnetic Wolverine Circular filters for a couple of years and have found them to be flawless. I used Lee filters (resin and glass) before that and they were also excellent but much more cumbersome and, for some reason, more difficult to keep clean. Kase has now produced a series called 'Revolution' which are similar (maybe identical?) to the Wolverine circular filters but they have colour coding on the metal edges of the filters. As suggested below, some nail varnish / luminous paint applied carefully to the edges of the Wolverine filters will do the trick. I've found them to be quite robust - and I have dropped them a few times. Incidentally, I've found the Kase CPL filter is excellent at removing glare off water and other light-reflective surfaces. If you decide to invest in additional circular magnetic filters, the 'K&F Concept' magnetic filters are compatible with / attach to the Kase filters and they are significantly cheaper.

Have you heard about Maven filter set (although they don't go over 10stops) ? I'd like to hear what's your preference would be, a comparison between the two ( Kase and Maven) would be very instructive

I tried some long exposure photography yesterday. I've got light leaks some where. Might be that I was using my kits lenses. I'll try again with my primes.

Are you using a DSLR or mirrorless camera? A DSLR will have light leakage through the optical viewfinder. So, you have to cover the viewfinder. I always lose the viewfinder covers that come with my cameras, so I keep pieces of black gaffer's tape on my camera and lens cover that I can use to cover the viewfinder for long exposures. Hope this helps. If you are using a mirrorless, I'm afraid I have no suggestions.

@@WalterMitty-sv2pq Yes, it's a DSLR, and yes, I lost the viewfinder cover, and still yes, I put a black piece of electrical tape over the viewfinder. Which is why I don't understand where the light leak is coming from.

Interesting as always. Please don't put the filters in your pocket. You know they'll fall out when the tide is coming in or you'll tread on them.
