Yeah I definitely did the bridal shop order in thing because most of them here sell prom dresses (though this is Canada, we don't have prom--we have grad). This was 2004 so idk if that's still the thing to do. We did have a non-school sanctioned formal in grade 12 though (a tradition, the school always tries to shut it down lol) and for that I brought my dress at Le Chateau (Canadian women's clothing store) for 28 bucks. Re: free shipping, if it says if I spend a certain amount I get free shipping, I always calculate whether it would be cheaper to a) not add an extra item and just pay for the shipping or b) add an extra item and get free shipping. Usually it works out to option A.

I found my prom dress at a consignment shop i don't remember how much it was but I don't believe it was over $60 and it was GORGEOUS! It was this floor length, sweetheart strapless red dress that was to die for. I think I wore matching red heels (not that I have any pictures to prove that because in all pictures from that night I either have my feet covered by my dress or I don't have any shoes on, which I can totally understand myself doing because I can't walk in heels very well at all. I still own that dress and am just waiting for another chance to wear it because of how pretty it made me feel.
