if you guys are really interested in this brand try to buy it second hand!! they don’t have the best ethical practices tbh (copying designs from other businesses and questionable worker conditions at a minimum) but it’s totally valid that not everyone can afford more expensive brands. lots of people resell basically brand new pieces! prob bc they have terrible return policies lol

The materials are largely polyester, rayon, spandex, etc. which is reflected reasonably in their pricing. Other brands these days are marking up prices for similar items (e.g. $200 leggings from Lululemon)

I totally agree! Also I see so many influencer hyping this brand but no one mentions how they hold up after two washes… And with elastane being a big problem when it comes to recycling, Halara‘s sustainability plan would be interesting to know. Tbh as a design student popflex although now is doing some new stuff the basics are not that new. Skorts existed way before in similar styles. She just made them more popular to our markets. But tennis players have been wearing skorts for ages and we didn't care back then. Also there isn't much you can do that isn't copying someone. A basic piece is a basic piece. There's not much one can do to make it orginal. And although I like popflex, I don't have the money to justify buying anything from them so I wouldn't be able to support them. And rather than hearing the same excuse of: "You don't need it then. Don't buy unsustainable pieces if you can't afford good ones" I'll tell you I use all of my cheap stuff until it falls apart. I've got fast fashion that is over 5 years old. And a pair of super cheap skorts I got from a popular sports store in Europe from the kids sections.

@@Y_Chen123yes. I also have seen many tennis players wear very similar designs too in the past. It's not new. Sure she added her own touch but popflex didn't invent them. Sometimes I feel like her fans have a cult like mentality over this brand where they think anything she does is new or has never been done before when it has. It's so weird to see as a design student interested in fashion design. Like I usually Google for inspo and I once managed to make a dress that is identical to a bridesmaid dress I got recommended on an ad on asos. I haven't seen that dress ever. But it's identical to the one I made and had never posted online. It was such a coincidence. Down to the colour and fabric type.
@alishavial16845 ай бұрын
My thoughts exactly! They’ve stolen designs from multiple small businesses from what I’m gathered and mass produce them for slightly cheaper using unethical business practices. And people still justify it and try to say they aren’t copying and it’s fine. Like I get that not everyone can afford ethical clothing from small businesses but you don’t have to belittle all the hard work of those businesses by saying they didn’t even come up with the designs and they didn’t have their hard work stolen.

Hi, yes, so blogilates actually wrote a blogpost about how halara copied some of their designs and even marketing videos. About the evironmental part and workers rights; Halara is a Chinese compagny and fast fashion brand. According to "your sustainable guide" online, Halara doesn't have a vendor's code of conduct which would address workers rights. Halara also doesn't have it's own production units and outsources production to countries in China, Vietnam and the Philippines. I don't have definite proof but there is shockingly sparse information about Halara online. It's a fast fashion brand and so probably, like the rest of them- not sustainable. 😊

Honestly, I’m just not bothered by “copycat designs” at this point. Almost all the activewear on Amazon are copycat designs from overpriced brands, and this is no different. If I could afford the insane prices of Popflex, sure I’d buy those instead. But many of us can’t, so I’m fine with people getting what they can afford. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift (who could definitely afford any brand she wanted to support) literally wore that black skort at Coachella and I’ve not seen any criticism of her lol

There’s no way Taylor was wearing a Halara brand skirt, it’s probably the original that Halara ripped off. Same with stores like Ross, I see so many clothes copied/“inspired” from high end, Kpop fashion, viral trendy clothes there, and honestly it feels good to buy clothes for a bargain than buy $$$-$$$$ to “flex” or show off the branding like influencers who targets a bunch of kids/young adults.
