Also purchased the full suite. Agree with above comment, many customizable options under the hood. Love the “link” to QRZ while logging if you want a peek at a page. Contest logs are wonderful and NO BETTER SUPPORT than you’ll find with N3FJP. ANY TIMEOF DAY/NIGHT!

Yes sir, I have tried many logging programs and N3FJP is by far the best. It does have lots of bells and whistles but they are under the hood and not out in your face cluttering up the screen.

Thanks Doug for the video. I purchased the software package about 6 months ago and it is truly my favorite. Great program with great support. 73, Dave, AC3HT

I’ve tried almost all the windows based logging programs. None are perfect, but this is simple and reliable. I use CCUser to feed and filter DX spots to AC Log. Together they are very good.

Hi Doug, I have HRD, but found the UI too cluttered. Was using N1MM+ for contests and would then upload the ADIF to LoTW. I'm now using ACLog and haven't looked back. Have used their contest logs, but haven't been active in contests lately. 73 WJ3U

Don, I’m in total agreement about the HRD UI clutter.

I have T32TT on 10 through 30 Meters, which is OK, BUT... if I want credit in LOTW I have to go to Clublog first which stinks. Sorry, not related to your video but when I saw T32TT it reminded me. Also, thinking if I'm going to get him on 40, I'm going to have to get up really early ;)

I saw T32TT and TT32TT about an hour ago. But I had no propagation.

So I guess one can't run both N3FJP for logging and HRD for rig control at the same time, huh? On mine I get an error about the COM port (access denied) on whichever program I try to run second (doesn't matter which of the two COM ports I select, either). Is there a way I'm missing? Disappointing if not...I like HRD's way of rig control but the N3FJP logger seems better...
@n4hnhradio10 ай бұрын
I found myself never using the rig control. If I want to control my radio from a monitor, I could but a Flex. But I’m a button and knobs guy. So the rig control was wasted on me. You can have two programs polling the comm port simultaneously. Still, you can type a frequency into the Call field of N3FJP, press enter, and it will tune your radio to that frequency.

@@n4hnhradio On my computer, if I have either N3FJP or HRD open already and try to open the other program, I will get a COM port error about "Access is denied" and then it says to check that the COM port is not in use by another program (which it is because the other program is open). Do you know how I set it up so that both programs can poll the COM port simultaneously?
@n4hnhradio10 ай бұрын
I don’t think you can have CAT control from two sources at the same time.
@mark12.3110 ай бұрын
@@n4hnhradioThat's probably what it's trying to do now that I think about it.

@@n4hnhradio There is a way to share a COM port between two different apps. I believe it creates a two virtual com ports and acts as a "traffic cop" between the two virtual ports and the physical port. Another way is for the application to use the HRD Rig Control API. WSJT-X will happily co-exist with HRD because it uses HRD to control the rig instead of a direct CAT connection. I wish N1MM and N3FJP would implement HRD rig control. I use N1MM for the CWTs and it's a pain to disconnect HRD and connect N1MM. Seamless integration would be nice.

I bought the suite that includes the contest logs. I like it better than HRD and N1MM. When I tried HRD I didn't care for it. I do some of the state QSO parties but I am not much of a contester. The Field Day and Winter Field Day logs are great. KM4NHN.
