In this video I tackled a challenging new mountain bike trail known for its rowdy reputation and a notorious, daunting drop. Struggling to conquer the intimidating feature, I allowed it to consume my thoughts, ultimately leading to a disappointing attempt and a crash. Reflecting on the experience, I realized the importance of maintaining the right mindset and knowing when to step back for safety. However, waiting too long to conquer the feature resulted in unfavorable conditions as rain made the trail muddy and slippery, leading to a catastrophic crash on a rock roll feature. This humbling experience underscored the importance of mental preparation and timing when taking on demanding trails.

Bro your commentary was hilarious. “Rock’s pretty grippy. Oh oh oh… sike!” I had a similar crash as yours. I was too confident and went down a rock roller I wasn’t familiar with and went off line and bottomed out. My ribs went right into the bars and I was sore for a month or two.

Ouch! That was a hard crash. Glad you came out ok. It looked like you slightly went off to the left of where the ideal line is. Going slightly left you have that darn off-camber dirt with a slight gap in it. And awesome you did that big drop near the top, it's intimidating. I still haven't got around to hitting that myself.

First time without a someone to lead you in that last roller can be risky. Line choice leaves small margin for error. My worst crash to date was that first drop at the top. Was too confident in my case. It gave me 6 months off the bike to think of my mistake. Glad you were able to walk away from that. It looked violent

Yeah, unfortunately I’m new to the area so I had to ride solo. Yeah, same the drop at the top surprised me, was not expecting that much bottom out. Yeah thankfully I was able to ride out.

Sorry to see the crashes. I've learned that when things just don't "feel" right, and when I'm not feeling confident, I simply dial it back and take it easy. When you mentioned you were not feeling confident, I knew exactly what you meant. I sometimes happens to me on trails I've ridden a 100 times, but something is just off. The opposite is true when some days you feel like a real hero with mad MTB skills. Either way, both conditions require a little caution, at least for me. Thanks for the vid. Going to demo the PNW next week and will be on these same trails.

Hi Todd! Yeah, that day I really tried forcing myself to do features which sadly resulted in me crashing. I definitely learned that patience is key and if I don’t hit a feature it will still be there tomorrow. That’s great! Hopefully you’ll like the relay pnw!
