Very interesting. Glad you like the Pelletgage. JSB produces their Match Jumbo in two sizes, 5.51 and 5.52 mm. You seem to get a valid result from a good sample. The accuracy of the apertures on Pelletgages is guaranteed to be within 0.0025 mm of the nominal sizes, that is 0.0001 inch and a diametric measure. The only way I know to check the aperture is with a class X plug gage. Deltronic makes metric sets, I have one for each caliber. Meyer also has similar gages. Calipers (dial or digital) are typically rated plus or minus 0.001 inch, or 0.025 mm. They are not accurate enough for a reliable measure of the pellet head diameter. Even if they were, you will get only one chord across the diameter, and it may have a ding. The flat spot that would result in 0.01 mm depression is about six degrees. Same as a flat spot across one minute on the face of your watch to visualize. Contact me about a 25 caliber Pelletgage

FWIW, I find that JSB/AA are the most consistent pellets on the market, and sometimes they are not so great. :-)

JSB 18.13 & H&N snipers are great in my Hatsans. I haven't tried the air arms..but I just ordered some. Just waiting for them to get them in stock. Some of my rifles seem to like the H&N field Target trophies in a 5.53 You're throwing out some really good information brother. keep it up!!

Brother to see if your gauge said is accurate to its potential buy a set of doubt plans that they use in tool and die it will be a steel cylinder pin and you’ll be able to slide it in the hole for the most accurate C

Great information Rich! I gave up on Crosman pellets a while ago. The weight was as inconsistent as you got with the head size.

Ever "slug" your barrels to get an idea of the actual bore diameter? I would, but I am too lazy. In my benji XL, crossman np 14.3 , JSB 18 , 16 and the polymags shoot really well. I wished hn's would shoot better, but I just cant seem to get them to work in the 22 or 177 XL 's. Not horrible like a gamo pellet, just a noticeable difference shooting from field positions. I rarely shoot from a bench with all the rests..... I will have to give the AA's a go.
