You can get chips from Anat. there is one in Canal Walk and one in the V&A by the KFC. Salt, vineyard and what we call “slap” chips aka hand cut chips not French fries. Deeelic!

Eddie for real local Cape Malay food please go to the Bo-Kaap Kombuis in Bo-Kaap neighbourhood. The recipes from the original slave quarter of the Cape so the food is steeped in history. The family cook the food in their kitchen but there is a proper dining area with stunning views across the city .

Avo is Avocado. Some parts of South Africa it grows wild. Like in Rustenburg. So it's very popular in South Africa. That pap you are eating, usually goes better with Chakalaka( a spicy vegetable relish, most often made from cabbage, beans, tomatoes, onions, and garlic. Some version include corn or butternut). The lady telling you that you can't buy chips alone was up selling you. Every food place in South Africa you can buy chips separately.

Bruh.... Jardy's?? It's Jarryd's... as in JARREDS....😑 I've been watching all your vids in Cape Town so far... I'm just curious as to how much of research you've put into things like where to stay, places to visit, etc before you actually came through... I'm in Durban, South Africa, which is on the East Coast, and even a visit for me to Cape Town always heralds something new and unique... Sure, there are some dodgy areas, like the townships, etc, but that, as you've said in the past, coming from LA, is predominant all over the world... Cape Town is structured towards tourism, and when you go to the key destinations like Table Mountain, etc... you'll see that. Also, having a budget of $50 (roughly R900) and starting off in a place like that... isn't really the smartest choice! When in Cape Town, you need to have a Gatsby, and of course, the seafood... The V&A Waterfront has some great seafood restaurants there, but I would suggest a visit to Fish on the Rocks in Hout Bay for some proper stuff. A suggestion would also be to set a couple days aside and maybe do the "hop-on-hop-off" tour with the red buses (you'll see them all over the CBD), its the cheapest way to see alot of Cape Town, and the narration on the trip also teaches you alot of the history... Would also make a great vlog!

Remember Eddie is not a tourist and he isn’t always keen on touristy activities, hence even in Joburg he went to Edenvale. When he goes to a place he likes to be in areas where residents live and really normal everyday people’s lives.

No no no. You don’t eat bunny chow in Cape Town. Cape Town is known for its Malay community therefore it would have been better to try some Malay food, since the iconic food of Cape Town is fish and chips, but you’re vegetarian. Please go to Durban on the east coast for bunny chow as it originated in the South African Indian community in Durban. Also, you will love the vegetarian Indian food! Safe travels!
