Trying the new ARCHON Hero Talents

Little first impression of the Shadow/Holy Archon talent tree on the War Within Alpha.
Has good meme potential, I just hope we get a banger visual too like we did for Voidweaver.

Disagree that the echoing psychic scream thing is useless in pve. That's effectively 2 aoe stops back-to-back for big M+ pulls. Doesn't matter if the fear is broken instantly, it still interrupted their casts.

Agreed, I use scream in my m+ team especially in Uldaman to stop the hailstorm and man is it a good interrupt! Obviously the fear is broken from it almost instantly from all the aoe damage, but to have them get feared again only 4 seconds later? That would be amazing for helping the healer, honestly with getting less damage going out. Still, voidweaver is way cooler. lol

@@phoenix7289 Voidweaver is way cooler, but I do feel like Archon is going to be way better for M+. Halo is uncapped aoe which also applies increased dmg taken and heals + an increased 15% damage buff in Voidform and a second fear on psychic. The damage from Voidweaver's singularity is going to have to be massive to make up for it IMO. And that's not even talking about 10% more haste from PI and 25% increased dmg from Surge of Insanity casts which will hit much harder from the earlier mentioned buffs.

Archon is weird, and I think it's because the Shadow/Holy combination is probably one of the weirder ones to design for in the game. With the other healer/dps hero trees, they at least share some thematic things in common, but Shadow and Holy are antithetical to each other. I get where they're coming from with the elevated state stuff because the tree has a ton of stuff that increases the power of your CDs, but Halo is strange. I wish they'd drop the Halo stuff and just focus on the specs' CDs more overtly.

SP didn't really use Halo much so it's weird to design the whole hero talent tree around it imo. They also upped the CD from 40 seconds to 1 minute, so you press Halo every minute on the dot and you get a medium boost that looks and feels kinda underwhelming. I would prefer some hero talents that have a chance to proc random Halos or reduce the remaining cooldown to make it a little more exciting and rewarding to play. IDK, maybe dot up every target hit by the Halo or make the dots explode or something. Just sending out Halo after Halo with procs would look and feel really cool. Right now you just press funny ring once a minute to activate 3 passives that are not doing much for the gameplay or rotation. Especially when we look at some well designed hero talents from other classes that go complete ham rotation and visual wise, while you are just like "oh boy it's been a minute, let's push circle"

Halo could be automatic casted when using our CDS like Dark Ascnesion or Apotheosis

Bruh imagine if they gave archon a transformation like the union of 2 templars from starcraft ,that you become a fusion of void Archon "Power Overwhelming" that change all your spells into a super powerful versions. Void torrent into Amalgamation The power word shield into Energon void Mind blast into eradication I would love to have an opportunity to be working for blizzard to give and create ideas and weapons plus tier sets. 💖🥺💖

I really miss when you could say "big dam" and the HP is actually moving like in season 1. I like the direction overall of both Hero Talents, Helo should probably insta cast, seems even harder to setup your burst, which is already a struggle for SP in pvp situations

It's still a work in development. A lot of stuff out right now is out to test but graphics are still a work in progress. Archon doesn't even have a hero talent icon yet compared to Frostfire and Voidweaver.

They gave it all to void weaver, oracle was a fiasco and they had to remake it and now we have archon which feel like some half baked stuff without any kind of depth Well let's hope the next next expansion will be better

Archon look like it's the same function as Discipline in spirit, that is, a support priest that deals damage and heals, but without the nuance of working within the Atonement window, it's just straight Holy and Shadow slapped together and I love it.

Looking at the damage, many of the other hero talents are doing rn; spriest seems in general like a disappointment, but I guess we are used to that, right, lol. Both Archon and VW have AoE potencial, so I am really wondering what will be played at the end. Especially when Halo has its 1min CD and VT only 30/45secs.

Archons spamming halo seems rather insane, big aoe damage, decent aoe healing, and with the talent a huge 50% slow while having huge insanity generation.

This is the second time I'm watching a hero talent video and the person says something akin to "Did that do a lot of damage? I dunno..." The floating combat text is so bad, you need an addon to tell you how much damage you did.

And everyone who says the floating combat text is the problem is an idiot, you can literally disable different types of damage. The only reason it looks so cluttered is because he has every type of damage enabled (dots). You can disable that, and make it only show direct damage, rather than periodic. Thats how my warriors current UI is, I dont see any of my bleed effects ticking, just the big fat damage numbers.

Some of them are, but some of them are crazy. Diabolist, Sunfury, Herald of the Sun, Templar, Frostfire, are all REALLY good. Voidweaver is good too. Archon is meh, Slayer is meh, there are quite a few meh ones.
