Found this about Flynn being scared of the dark, “When kids go to bed, they have fewer distractions to preoccupy their minds, so instead their imagination runs wild. As a result, a shadow in a dark corner can quickly turn into a 5-headed monster coming to get them”. A really good thing my mom did when I was scared of the dark was she played with me in the dark. This got me used to it. She would also stay in bed with me so I wouldn’t be scared(until I fell asleep).

I think being scared of the dark comes from prehistoric times when wild animals could kill us at night because we couldn’t see anything. Most of our basic fears are linked to dangerous situations we could meet in nature like heights, dark, oceans, etc..

hi! about flynn being afraid of the dark, i learned about Jung’s theory of a collective unconscious last year in one of my psych classes and fear of the dark is one of the things it tries to explain. basically he says that all humans throughout time have this unconscious and shared set of knowledge/beliefs they are born with. it’s a whole theory that goes more in depth with archetypes and everything if you ever wanna go down that rabbit hole lol i think it’s an interesting idea

yes! i was one of those girls who would call my mom at like 2:00 in the morning to come get me from whoever’s house i was at for a sleepover 😂 i missed out on so many girl scout adventures and had trouble keeping friends because i would never stay the night somewhere else. to this day i prefer my own bed, but i’ve definitely grown out of the fear of it.

While I'm not an anthropologist, I think the fear of the dark stems from an instinctual fear of predators who hunted our ancestors during the nighttime, thus the fear became a response to being in the dark and alone. Edit: I also think that fears in general developed in us humans as a method of self-preservation and survival, also Flynn might have seen an alligator or crocodile in a show and thought it was scary or they depicted the alligator as the villain so he associates them with that kind of stuff.

When I was little my grandma's house had a door that was half the size of a regular door...I was terrified of that door! For some reason I thought a mean dwarf lived inside of the door and would eat me if I opened it. For years I had an irrational fear of this door, but now I know that the door opens to a little closet that was full of baby toys. I think my fear came from my older brother telling me about the dwarf that lived behind this tiny door. I used to be afraid of the space in between the bed and the wall when I was little (if the bed was against a wall) and my grandma used to have to stuff a blanket in the crack so I wouldn't "fall in" 😂 I still have the blanket to this day which I named Buddy because of how much it helped me

My theory on Flynn's fear of the dark! I think fear of the dark is pretty instinctual in all humans. It's not necessarily a fear of the dark itself, but a fear of the unknown - that something dangerous could be hiding in the dark. Humans rely on our sight for safety and keeping ourselves alive, so when that sense is taken away it makes us very vulnerable.
