Fantastic video - thanks so much. The pump is rated at 37w, but in tests it runs at 17w. At the current capped price of electricity (34p per kwh) that means it costs 13.9p for 24 hours continuous running, so your estimate is very accurate!

World class product. I cannot stress how impressed I am with it. Game changer and a superb concept.

When I fitted my Hamlet I came across these , and can safely say it's a Game Changer, in comparison my friend has a Burner and when you walk in the front door you feel a chill now when my friend came over the first time it was in use he he said why have you got the central heating on, I said it's not been on all day, these are a must have and should be sold hand in hand and at least made aware of them at point of sale

One of the really cool things about the recoheat is when the stove is cold. it can begin to heat the room in under 5 minutes, instead of waiting the better part of an hour. Also a kindling fire on cool spring mornings won't over heat the house as the day warms up.

We have had one fitted for over 12 months and safe to say is a great investment, much better linear heat and we use 30-40 percent less wood.

Recoheat for any stove is a fantastic addition. I have had it over the winter and it is a game changer - using a few pieces of logs running for 4 hours or so I can easily get my room up to 24-29 degrees and more. I got my fitter to drill a hole in my external wall and ensure the pump was placed outdoors, thereby eliminating the main pump noise (though it comes with a silencer). The pump does need to be fed with electricity so I plugged it in with an Avatar smart plug. Rather than having to manually turn the plug on and off I can now just say speak to Alexa with a single command. You will use less fuel, gain around 1kw more in heat, ensure the heat is dispersed more evenly (trumps a stove fan with ease). When I open living room door the heat does go upstairs, it would be even more effective in a well insulated house which mine isn't. I have relied on radiators much less this past winter and have reduced using it to 10% of former usage, it won't completely replace radiators but for £300 it is a must have accessory. Only annoyance unfortunately which is inevitable and cannot be avoided is the loudish hiss from the nozzle. This can be irritating when trying to watch a film or want a bit of peace and quiet, this review does not highlight that fact enough. I have however learned to deal with the noise and see it as a neccessary evil; think of it as the noise of saving money and keeping warm. Overall the RecoHeat is the best gadget I have ever seen invented in modern times! It is an ingenious product and shoots out heat like a hairdryer would (all for free more or less!)

Had the same done with ours. Had it now two years and wouldn't look back. Disperses heat round nearly the whole of our Edwardian semi.

How long is the pipe that the air comes from ?
@H.Ali_08
@H.Ali_08 4 ай бұрын
@@matthewnelson-ep5ru it's not really a pipe but an outline hole that comes out about half a centimeter. It shoots out hot air. From seeing other videos a metal pipe cannot be attached to the nozzle as the heat will otherwise dissipate, which is a shame as some that heat could have been redirected to another room via a metal pipe - but it is what it is.

I’ve had a Recoheat for a couple of months now… very impressed with it. I’ve only got a 4kw Saltfire stove,but my small bungalow is lovely and warm.

Great video. Fascinating device that no doubt works. It is very powerful and effective. In unscientific trials I have found that a much simpler solution works well - a 3kw USB desk fan blowing air over the stove top and single wall flue section. Ultra cheap solution and better than stove fans. Equally because it is moving a relatively large volume of air without pipework it is silent. A jet like in the video must be hugely effective but being happy with my 3w solution isn't something I personally would need or justify. Great for those who need more however. Keep up the great videos!

I have an aspect 5. It's a 4 bed detached house. I noticed that even in winter it gets hot, the ceiling is like 35C. So I fitted a small fan on a timer which is silent but blows the ceiling air through the living room door into the hall. The whole house get hot now and it doesn't get too hot in the living room.

I’ve always been very skeptical about these different kind of stack heat robbers. Modern stoves are very efficient and need every bit of heat at lower air settings to maintain good draft and prevent creosote. It’s much more efficient to move the cooler air on the floor with a fan towards the stove or stove room and create a convection loop where the warm air replaces the cooler air. Use the stove to heat not the stove pipe!
@Recoheat
@Recoheat 5 ай бұрын
You're right in cases of 'stack heat robbers', but the way we exploit the turbulent boundary layer to transfer heat without slowing the flow rate means that there is no discernible drop in the flue temperature. That's because the variable heat generated by combustion creates enough redundancy, and the proportion of the flow gases in contact with the coil - which is the only part of the gas flow that can pass heat - is relatively so small. The difference in the temperature drop cannot be more than adding an additional 6cm to the length/height of a 150mm flue, so is far too small to make a difference.

Sounds good but I’d still monitor flue temps while using something like this.
@Recoheat
@Recoheat 5 ай бұрын
@@wobdeehomestead Quite right. We've had it tested by two sets of external engineers, and peer reviewed by a university. The engineering report on its safety we had done as part of our regulatory process is available from the Installer page on the website. They tested up a 5m flue and could measure no fall in temperature. But it's a crucial part of assessing the suitability of a stove with a primary heat recovery unit, that the flue should be hot enough.

A good video, we have a small fan 5w which we point at the floor towards the stove, we can feel the difference. cost 5p/day. Give it a go and do the temp testing again. We see about a 5DegC difference at 10m from a 5-7kw stove. If I was purchasing I would get a low powered silent fan.

Why not run the test lower / more realistically?
@stevengallagher3022
@stevengallagher3022 5 ай бұрын
Thank you for the video. Quick question would the reco heat spill out as much heat if that stove was the boiler version and was attatched to the central heating system, since obviously the water would be taken some heat.
@TheTortoise
@TheTortoise 5 ай бұрын
It should still be hot enough for this to work, but you’re right that generally flue temperature is lower.
@Recoheat
@Recoheat 5 ай бұрын
That's true, and some boiler stoves wouldn't be suitable for a Recoheat because their flue temperature is too low. We need a temperature that will peak at around 250C for part of the burn cycle as a minimum, so that the flue and coil will stay clean. Some stoves with an oven will be the same - they've already got a heat recovery system on, essentially, and might not be able to sustain two.

Did you run any tests in more realistic conditions? Correctly sized stove for the room , comfortable temperature in room housing the stove & gadget ? What ventilation provision was made for that size stove ? With new eco-design stoves low flue temperature and flue draught can be a HUGE problem did you take any readings of these ? You mentioned no gases enter the room , is there any fail safe built into the unit in case of failed welds etc to prevent this ? Does the turbulence the coil creates slow the gases further? Hasn’t the flue diameter been compromised by it ? Has it been / are there intentions to attempt to have it HETAS Approved for use in a domestic property in England ? This test stinks
