For the "Water bath trick" the reason why the water can't go inside the cup is because the air takes up the space and can't escape, hence the reason why you don't see a lot of the air bubbles heading to the surface. IF you were the put the cup in the water at an angle, the air has a chance to escape and give the water a chance to take place inside the cup. Does that make sense?

Well I’m not a scientist but I know for the fact the reason why the paper towel wasn’t getting wet under the cup is that inside of the cup it gathers air before you put it on the water it keeps that air as like an air bubble so that’s why the paper towel didn’t get wet cause it’s inside of an air bubble 😮

Tip for the joly ranchers, make sure it's sizzling a lot, make sure your fruits are dry (that way they don't slip off), and plunge them into a bowl of ice cold water instead of waiting for them to set, it will look prettier.

It has to do with suction and pressure. This is how gravity water dispenser things for dogs work. A complete seal and if it's touching water, it has a seal at the bottom.
