You're letting off too early and that's why the car keeps throwing itself into the grass. The throttle is part of steering the car so instead of one long hold on the accelerator try on and off to give yourself less work to do with the steering wheel. Should help
@hugevibez6 жыл бұрын
To add to this, Chris Harris has a pretty good video on drifting. Definitely worth checking out!
@CPFrost6 жыл бұрын
Funny, I would've recommended the opposite. I'd want to hit the kink with high speed and high angle, mostly off-throttle. That way the car *literally* drifts down the short stretch between kink and corner, scrubbing speed all the way. Then by the time you hit the corner, the angle you maintained since the kink is now correct for the corner. Then you just get back on throttle and away.
@hugevibez6 жыл бұрын
No, you go on the throttle 100%, counteract the oversteer by steering in the opposite direction and you get in to opposite lock, and at that point you're drifting. You change the angle with the throttle and when you want to return to grip you go off the throttle slightly and straighten your steering at the same time.
@conneryade6 жыл бұрын
Dion Suurmond too much throttle will cause you to spin very easily
@CPFrost6 жыл бұрын
@@hugevibez Right - I appreciate the pointer, but I'm familiar with the general idea, having spent... Oh, a few hundred hours drifting in sims. :) As noted in the other reply, while the goal is to be on throttle as much as possible, sometimes the physics of the corner sequence require a moment off. If you're trying to scrub speed approaching a slower corner, for instance, even if you don't spin from having your foot to the floor, you'll still carry too much speed and hit the grass, like Jimmy does in the video.

M Y D U D E ! turn the boost up! its 0% by default. you can also put the "street" tires on if you hadnt and that makes it a bit easier to maintain drifts. you should be able to throw it into third while transitioning into the first left hander after t1.

One of the reasons you're struggling so much is that you aren't letting go of the steering wheel. Assuming that Assetto Corsa has fairly realistic force-feedback, you should be able to let go of the steering wheel at the proper times and allow the self-steer/auto-steer to take over. (No more "...very violent is drifting . . . got a lot of steering movements." 3:37 )

Im no expert, but i know that heel and toe is used to stabilise the car and having a stable car isnt what you want when drifting. In fact I've seen people not using heel and toe to help get the loose on entry. So I'm wondering if you are doing heel and toe out of habit, or trying to stabilise the car on entry. I dont know if you should be doing it or not, but I'm not a drifter so i wouldn't know, please educate me
@evanforst72726 жыл бұрын
Heel toe is used to make smooth downshifts which helps to keep the car stable. You can also initiate a drift by shifting down and purposefully mismatching the revs. It takes a bit more practice but its a really good way to initiate a turn, if you get it right
@dario625896 жыл бұрын
In real life you use heel and toe to save your tranny syncros too, but in a sim its pointless, you can definitely use the bump that the raw downshift produce to make the rear lose traction and start the slide.
@ninjaghost19986 жыл бұрын
You definitely need to heel toe in sims if you don't you will just lock the rear wheels up on down shifting or cause wheel hopping making the car very unstable. if you don't need it in sims no one would do it
@dario625896 жыл бұрын
@@ninjaghost1998 we are talking about drifting...
@MrCarlozan966 жыл бұрын
The matter is that an oversteer induced by a violent downshift is not very controllable. You should heel and toe to have a smooth downshift and than initiate the drift by either shifting weight or with the handbrake.

Higher rear tyre pressure and shorter gear ratio makes this car a lot easier. Also i didn't notice if you put your turbo pressure to 100% or not. nah nurburgring isn't the right type of track. too many straits, not enough places where you can hold a drift throughout a series of corners. not to mention that you would need an uncontrollably powerful car to hold it in the shallow high speed corners unless you can pull off some crazy entry and manage to pull out of it.
@jojomarujo87046 жыл бұрын
BKsniperguy, i'm just kidding. Just saying that because Jimmy mostly lap on Nordschleife, tho i'd say he can pull lots of crazy sanpatsus on the straights.

Use more clutch when drifting. It gives you angle, and you maintain the drift more. The clutch and the throttle are used almost the whole time XD¨
@tobidorifto68036 жыл бұрын
sorry but this comment isnt really making sense. all a clutchkick does is make the wheels break traction which, in combination with a flick of the wheel, can be used to initiate a drift. maintaining a drift is done by throttle input. unless the powerband breaks up a bit, then you clutchkick in order to pick up revs. if you need more angle whilst IN drift, leftfoot brake, which will force the car into more angle. not tryna be a nerd here. but if he is taking advice. it should be proper advice :P
