These are honestly fun, I bought a few for my niece and nephew and decided to get myself one. I go out Fossil hunting and mapping as a volunteer for the museum. Usually what I am looking through is 100% Carboniferous from the younger Waynesburg Formation of the Dunkard to the Mississippian older sediments

This is so soft. I'm only 29 so this isn't even that long ago, but when I was a kid there was a cement "dinosaur egg" with a porcelain Trex skull inside. The kit gave you eye protection, a hammer and chisel and you actually got to do proper work to get it out safe. That kit started me out on my obsession of prehistory and fossils and second handedly have me my first ever tool. Childrens toys these days are devoid of any problem solving or actual work, and older folk wonder why the younger generation is useless when it comes getting anything actually done.
