I remember last year when you were on the hunt for Ozella. She must have been waiting for you to leave. You may have to set up a trail cam. Moody is huge and doesn't realize how powerful he is. I am very glad you are so loving to him, but also cautious around him. The pups really seem to enjoy the rain. The barn doors Brooke stained look amazing. You remind me so much of my Uncle Michael. When I stayed on my grandparent's farm it was always so much fun and so interesting to go out into the woods or fields adventuring with him. He had a quiet calm manner, he majored in agriculture in college and helped my grandfather run a large successful farm. My uncle was a wealth of knowledge about plants and livestock. We'd go search around these old abandoned pre Civil war cabins on the property, there was even the ruins of a famous big old southern plantation home in the woods. My favorite thing to do was to go out with my uncle after a heavy rain and look for arrowheads. I never ever found one but my uncle always did, he had eagle eyes. Going along with you today made me feel like when I used to go out adventuring with my uncle Michael, it was fun, thank you.

Are there tracking devices that you could put on the female peacocks so that you could track their movements around the farm, especially during mating season? It just seems like there would be a leg band with a tracker that you could put on them so you could know where they are at all times.

Hey Jason, regarding the privet, you can cut it way back, after it blooms, and before it berries. Let it come back next year for the bees, just don’t let it berry.

Great idea, but difficult to do. We had 30 acres here in Mississippi, about half was woods. The privet was extremely dense all along the edges. The only way to get any handle on it was to have a service come in that had a special machine that would roll in and mulch it. It's expensive and it can only do the edges. They do have their bulldozer guy who can do a bit more selective work, but it's still pretty destructive of other tree species. Whatever they can get done would be great though.

Once you find the peacocks nest, can you build a fenced in enclosure with a covered netted cover? This way you wouldn't have to worry about losing them to predators.

You could cut perimeter trails through that 20 acres of woods... hire a forestry mulcher, they can make quick work of it and leave behind a mulched trail. It would also give you access for foraging and access in case of fire.

I used to love this privet here in the uk growing up. We used to have them in pur gardens as hedges, one of pur neighbours used to trim his into the shapes of cars and trains. Ours were simply for privacy on the back garden and den building. They used to be literally bouncing with bees this time of year. Box blight has killed many privet hedges off in the uk over the last few years

I'm concerned about your larger animals tearing up the lower parts of your new barn. I've seen several where the owners had to add wood from about 3 foot from the ground to keep the metal from getting all dented and torn up. It seems to be a problem both inside and out. The pushing, kicking, rubbing - sometimes that metal doesn't hold up to it.
