Trying to find the problem with the White 2-70 transmission. More of a job than I can do here

The first thing you do is steam clean first much easier to work on .Better no junk falling inside.

Check Ross the Oliver man too. He pulled his 1650 part way apart one time. Both of Ross and Chris have alot of videos.

Did you check the chain coupler or the possibility that the splines on the transmission input shaft have failed? You can see this after removing the side covers. You will need to remove the hydraulic housing before you can even see what may be wrong inside the transmission. These are solid simple and very reliable transmissions, however you have a lot of disassembly to do if you are going into the pinion shaft that you were pointing to in the parts list. As you found the 2-70 is like a 1655 Oliver. Worked on these tractors many years.

Thanks. I think it's fine but sometimes it's something simple that gets overlooked. The input shaft splines are worn. A couple years ago when I replaced the clutch I did replace both gears and chain. The input shaft sprocket I replaced with one that has a longer hub to get further back on good splines. Checking that and draining the oil to look for debris I'm going to do before tearing into it much more. I know between models things can definitely be the same but different. I knew I've seen something torn down and had two pieces cover just didn't realize the 2-70 was different till I got into it. I should know whatever I have would be the more complicated to work on. 🤣🤣🤣

Do you think it will need split to get transmission out?

No. I get over thinking things and forget that the white frame is all one casting. I'll have to remove the hydraulic/ 3 or and everything is from the top.
