Hey joey quick tip: In the future when you buy a ps5 with different board revisions, remove the bios and save a copy on your pc and mark the board number with the southbridge number and disc or digital edition So in case you get a device with a bios issue you can easily replace it

Joey, you should put it back together and contact eBay and report the item as not as described and get your money back, regardless if the seller stated no returns or refunds. And if eBay was smart they should flag the seller block any attempt of selling the PS5

I just used what I've learned from watching you to pinpoint a issue on my 65" 8k tv took me a week but now it's perfect. Still can't name most of the components but somehow I still sort it out. Loving the videos! Really enjoy this, I’m a electronic technician (rework/fault finding) for work, haven’t done anything at home yet but looking to use my skills to maybe make some flips at home eventually. Apart from equipment and supplies being a cost(I’d just get these items) what would be a good entry level electronic item to start fixing, I can’t afford to buy xbox/switch/ps5 to fix and get donation boards. Would love anyone or joeys insight to this or how you got started. Thanks

Joey, dont listen to the haters. Its not your fault people are selling for crazy prices. Whether you bought it or not, people would charge the same. Look at the gpu market. People bought weak gpus for super high prices because of the crypto boom and are not trying to sell them based off of that price not what its worth. eBay money back guarantee. Item was not as described. Open a eBay resolution, if you're feeling guilty about this, remember that you've already paid enough ebay fees on selling. I get that this is entertainment and not educational, but letting sellers get away with this "display not working" is very different from "device wont turn on". I have zero sympathy for these kinds of sellers. (also they arent a small seller... they know what they're doing. It isnt some guy who just thought his console was faulty and is the first time hes sold something)

i just had a thought may be stupid but if the disk drive and bios both have a key to allow them to work together could you somehow use the original disk drive to extract the lines of code needed to pair them because wouldnt the disk drive also need to have some form of data on it for the bios chip to read. then write it onto a new chip or something. again could be completely false lol

I would binary compare theis faulty BIOS file to a known good disc edition BIOS. Sometimes it is just a 1 bit that flipped and that can cause your issue, so with some luck you may get this BIOS working. With some luck tho!

Joey the switch lite just needed a new flex cable from motherboard to daughter board as there fragile and break easily. You never got the backlight so thag tells u its the cable. Just keep that in mind 😉

Sell a docking station with a switch when repaired. Remember to include the value of the free nintendo switches, as they are part of the deal even if you did not expect to get them. Sometimes we win and sometimes we loose.

Would I return it? First I would make sure to record the unboxing and checking that the warranty sticker is there. If it's not, I could already return it but what if it's still an easy job? Whether I keep going or not, can be left out of the unboxing video for the claim. But if I do find some worse signs of manipulation, I would have even MORE evidence to return it. So to keep going and keep recording is the smart choice. If it turns out to be a mess, I return it. If it's an easy job, I make a few bucks. It's a win either way.

I'm no expert but I believe the drive has a secret key (encrypted) that has to match the bios secret key (encrypted). Too many people erase and overwrote there bios chip without backing it up (losing the original secret key). I don't think anyone (publicly) has found a way to generate it decrypt the keys. Please someone reply if I'm wrong. I used to test (unlock) satellite tv and it had a similar setup. Once you activated a system the receiver wrote the key to a card which we could then read.

I agree the prices in general should come down a bit, but for me I also buy them for the content to earn income from KZbin so it’s not purely based off the profit from a fix. If this was fixed, it could have been a £70/80 profit because of Christmas around the corner which I don’t think would be too bad! I’m sure only 6 months ago I was having to pay £200 for them faulty.

Thinking out loud here but could you just put the board into a digital PS5 body without the disc drive since it can’t be paired, and mention it in your listing? There may be factors I’m not aware of that render the idea not doable.

Hi Joey hope you survived the storm ok unfortunately I did not and the switch I bought from you may not have as well, we have a static caravan in the garden and was useing it to hide the Christmas presents unfortunately it lost most of its roof between 1am and 5am this morning unfortunately everything in the room with the presents in got soaked, currently the switch motherboard is in 100% IPA bath and the case is drying slowly, carnt see any corrosion but don't think that switch has much luck, most of the other presents luckily are in plastic crates so are ok so is the dock it was in a crate, we are all OK, Christmas will be OK hopefully insurance will sort the caravan, just thought I would let you know
