This video was so well-timed! My civic has just filled with water this winter. The fuel filler drain was blocked, I have just drained that, I will tackle the others at the weekend and look forward to a dry boot going forward, thanks for a really well-made video!

Drilled a hole in the boot on mine it was full of water . Remove the trim in wheel well and now have a full size spare wheel in the boot had to lift the surrounding carpet by about 1 ½ inch to get the boot carpet lid fush . Mine leaking from the boot lights took them out and cleaned around the seals no more leaking . Thanks for the video very informative . One thing i do recommend is if you have a condensation problem put the heating on full all the time and put to the side window vents once up to temperature close the vents and keep all the heat going in the dashboard . Because excessive condensation in the dash causes electrical gremlins when the water condensate on the electric connection . Running the heater constantly on full remove the majority of condensation from inside .you need to keep the window open slightly to allow remove hot damp air

Condensation and temperature are a good way to grow mold in your car. You should really deal with infiltrations.

Thanks for the vids, I have had a leak on my car, I replaced the foam gaskets behind the lights on the actual boot lid. They were completely gone and leaking. I used some 4 mm neoprene material, drew around the old gasket and cut it out and gutter sealed them in. I am now going to do the light and the gutter seal to give it the full beans. Thanks again 👍

My sons Civic has exactly this issue. I'll be sorting this out thanks to your video. Something we have also noticed is that there is a parasitic battery drain on the car alarm circuit. My son got around this by constantly removing the relevant fuse when not using the car for any length of time. However, now the car boot is being regularly dried out, the battery drain problem has gone away! Hopefully fixing the boot leak will fix the battery drain too.

Cheers for the growing gallery of fn/fk information Lew. Literally the only decent channel I can find for the car. Coincidentally my fk3 formed a swimming pool in the boot last week, pretty sure it's the rails. When you take the trims off, do they basically need to slide forwards? I'm not going to take them off entirely, just want to pop the back up and get some seam sealer in there. Cba with breaking clips lol.

Ok. First of all you have to replace rear lights and bumper. Just under they are 2 rubber plugs which they can shrink when temperature is around 0. Try to seal around them on left and right side. Water when is coming down from roof and rear spoiler alway going around them when they damage or just shrink you have your leak.
@FNLEW
@FNLEW 3 жыл бұрын
Every test I did when the car was actively leaking the bungs let in zero water for me. I've seen them leak before and I understand they're a common culprit but my bungs were absolutely fine and water was coming from higher up the panel work for me. The state in which those cracks were in needed fixing regardless of leaks or not. But in my opinion, I'd rather eradicate a leak from the source than make sure it flows past everything else.
